Personally, I would skip the 30 point loss to UNLV. But, as I recall, that UNLV team beat Duke in the championship game by 30 as well. I guess that's something.

RE: Trojan Throwback Games to Watch!
I am still working through my list of Youtube games. Recently I have been in the glory years of Temple when the Chaney match-up zone was in its heydey. They were pretty good. Not many turnovers at all.

Last night I watched UNLV get beat by Fullerton when LV was #1. Interestingly, the TV announcers just called them Fullerton. Fullerton had an old-style gym, and it was packed to the rafters with the crowd coming unglued down the stretch. I think they said 4400 attendance.

The "yet to be watched" list is up to 465 games, and growing. Tons of fun, and I can do it on my couch.

I am watching Rhode Island vs. Providence. I love listening to those northeast metro accents.

Anyone remember John Linehan of Providence from back around 2001? He was only 5-9, but he was a terror on defense, averaging 4.5 steals per game his senior year. Led the Big East three different years.

(Dick Vitale speaking about Coach Gene Keady) "He is to intensity what Irving Berlin is to music."

(Rhode Island vs. Temple 1999)

Announcer: Uh oh, John's taking his jacket off. A sure sign in Philadelphia. He's ready to go to war with his own guys. You always protect the ball, if you are a Temple player, like it is your life. Yeah, that basketball is gold to John Chaney, and he will not allow his team to be loose with the ball.

I have watched a lot of Georgetown games as things have worked out. I am not particularly a fan of John Thompson, but with the possible exception of the old man at UCLA, he was the best I have seen at managing big man talent.

I mean, Alonzo Mourning and Dikembe Mutumbo on the same team - that is not even fair. Every other shot gets blocked.

I have begun watching some NAIA games, also. The level of play is probably NCAA Div 3, but the kids play hard. Almost entirely perimeter oriented. There are six NAIA programs in Arkansas.

I love watching Philly Big Five games. Oodles of tradition. Intense atmosphere in the Palestra.

Watching Pitt and Illinois from 1993. Speaking of Pitt's Jerry McCullough, who had several steals, one of the announcers said, "His hands are so quick he could loosen the lug nuts on a moving car."

Missouri-Illinois is one of the great non-conference, out of state rivalries in the country. I am watching the 1993 game that went to trip overtime. Really intense ballgame.
