Losing coverage?
Interesting article in the Toledo Blade, posted on the Toledo board, about cuts in newsrooms causing loss of coverage for MAC schools, local newspapers shifting to coverage of high school sports, etc etc etc.

https://www.toledoblade.com/college/2020...er-decline
(if they don't cut you off as a non-subscriber).

Couple few notes, thoughts:
--- Blade report says "In the past 18 months, the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Athens (Ohio) Messenger, and Bowling Green Sentinel-Tribune laid off full-time reporters covering the MAC. The Daily Chronicle in DeKalb, Ill., lost its Northern Illinois beat reporter, has not re-hired, and has furloughed additional staff."
--- Is the MAC going to become more dependent on ESPN? Was it a mistake to sign ALL rights to EVERYTHING over to ESPN (including all tiers)? How much can MAC/NIU expect?
--- Maybe not bad for this board, if we can get more serious about finding/posting relevant items ... and get more people to know it exists. NIU has well over 200,000 alumni, about some 160,000 of those in the Chicago area (if you accept STF's BYU-move-to-SeatGeek announcement). But not more than 200 active posters and at any given time no more than 50-60 "guests."

Just postin'.

This can be nothing but bad for MAC schools. We already are not getting enough coverage, and this will make it less.

I hope you are right about the board. It would be great to get a lot more people actually posting instead of lurking
