RE: AAC Headquarters Now in Irving, Texas
The AAC joins the Big 12, Conference USA, and Southland offices, all headquartered in the nation's 4th largest media market.
Why is the Metroplex so inviting? Three reasons:
1. No state income tax for the conference staff;
2. Easy access to DFW Airport, but probably...
3. Lots of year round golf opportunities.

Does this mark the end of the clambake in Rhode Island? I thought that was the coolest tradition Big East football had. No one else had anything like it. Even though the teams were much farther away with the conversion into the American, I thought it was cool the clambake carried over.

The CFP is also located in Irving...same office building as the new AAC hq.

They go from one extreme, out of the way location to the other. At least Providence was understandable, as it was a legacy inheritance. But Dallas? Good Lord.

Dallas makes more sense than Providence. It’s not even debatable.
The AAC just moved to the same building where the CFP committee is. The Big XII and C-USA offices are in a mile radius. It helps more than it hurts.
Not to mention DFW Airport is about 10-15 minutes away and Love Field about 20-30 minutes.

Dallas is a major airport hub. Houston, Tulsa, New Orleans, Memphis, Wichita all within 2 hours by air, Cincinnati, Orlando and Tampa within 3 hours. Sorry ECU and Temple, but that's life. Oops, Philadelphia to Love Field clocks in at 3 hours 5 minutes.

And we should keep in mind that it's only 1 hour and 35 minutes to El Paso. I'm feeling confident that the 12th spot is being shelved until the UTEP athletics renaissance. Could be a long, long wait.

Long lease, expensive ro break. They had to give plenty of time for staff to decide to relocate or find new jobs.

Being close to DFW makes sense for any company to move here. Centrally located, low taxes, plenty of room, and can fly anywhere in the US in a few hours. Now if we can just get rid of the virus.

The bottom of the page on theamerican.org still reads "15 Park Row West, Providence, Rhode Island". UConn's logo is removed, but the address isn't updated yet.

It’s a good place for the conference, all things considered. Now add Rice and wrap it up.

Not to mention 4 bowl games are located there—two of which feature potential P5 vs G5 match-ups.

Only DC has good airline connections and there is no full AAC member near there. ECU and Temple are the closest. And only Temple is northeast of there, so Dallas is about as centrally located as DC. Cincinnati and Memphis have lost a lot of flights since the Delta-Northwest merger.
Atlanta and Charlotte might make some sense, but there is no AAC team there.

Dallas is IMO too far from the cultural and geographic center of the AAC. No, I didn't expect Tampa or Orlando to host, even though both make as much sense as Dallas does, meaning not much.
I suspect it was chosen because the AAC staff like it more than because it adds value to the members. Nobody wants to fly in to DFW unless they have to. Now, they have to.
