Exclamation Boise in the American?
I hope never. What I would really like to happen is for WSU to restart its' football program. They dropped d1 football in 1987 (we used to play them when we were in the Missouri Valley Conference). WSU needs about $80m to kick it off again to compete in the American. The Koch bros (Wichita residents) drop more than that every year in political contributions. Football is much more interesting don't you think.

WSU would have an incredible amount of work to do before being able to compete in the American. Even Navy requested a couple of years to get their ducks in order.

True.

But I would take a full-member Wichita over a part-timer any time.

agreed, I remember seeing the Shockers play in the Liberty Bowl more than once as a teenager

in this environment, that's a huge ask for any program

Oh, I agree if they were up to it. I have zero interest in Boise.

We've already agreed once to be conference mates with Boise, don't see it happening but not that much of a problem for FB since our team flies to all the games. And if we got a good bump in $$ it would be OK. Would certainly strengthen the conference compared to UConn FB. Then add Dayton or VCU for BB, but adding WSU for FB would be like adding UT-M.

And they blew it. Let them grovel and maybe we will listen.

Not for football only. Like Navy, which plays in the West (or did). One longer plane flight every 2 years or more for any AAC school.

Nobody in their right mind would ever admit Boise all sports.

You could add Boise football only, and VCU basketball only, if you wanted.

I'm not advocating that, I have no interest in Boise, just pointing out it's not a difficult add, logistically.

RE: Boise in the American?
The president of WSU is very interested in and is actively working to bring d1 ball back to WSU. WSU is a member of the American for all sports except football. After a $69k study it was determined that $40m would be necessary to bring facilities (including existing on campus stadium) up to American standards. He stated that everyone he has spoken with is in favor of reviving football, but no one wants to pay for it. The Kock bros live in Wichita and contribute to the university. It just seems to me that if WSU could get that together we could get back to 12.

If we are willing to wait 20-30yrs or more for them to build a program. It won't happen overnight. Liberty University is putting about $10M or more per year in their FB program to reach a competitive level in D1. Liberty started their program in the '70s in NAIA, and finally made D1 in 2017.

Liberty had no intention of being FBS in the 1970s.

Countless FBS and a few FCS programs have shown you can start a DI program in five years or so.

UAB resurrected one from the dead in record time, so there’s that.

No, I think you can easily count the number.
