Examples of what? Of systemic racism?

Systemic racism is a form of racial impact that is built into an institution rather than the result of an immediate overt act - often by fact of history/tradition, built up impacts of past overt racism, or by fact of policy with disproportionate impacts.

Examples span the spectrum but include - mandatory minimum sentences for drugs disproportionately used by minorities (e.g. crack vs cocaine), massive underrepresentation of minority owned companies in most winning government contracting, gerrymandering to concentrate minority votes into single districts and limit minority representation in government, higher rates of suspension/expulsions in schools with large minority populations, use of "networks" for leadership positions in private industry where the vast majority of current leaders and their networks are white males, building of infrastructure projects with large negative environmental impacts disproportionately near minority communities and on and on...

If you need examples of systemic racism because you dont believe it exists I pray you are either homebound and cant see the world or that you didnt actually attend Memphis..

I'm not a moderator, but I did create this thread, and I would appreciate it if you guys would confine your comments to BLM, and how it will affect tickets sales/attendance, and the inappropriate nature of putting a political sticker on a football uniform. Whether or not systematic racism and social justice are "woke" buzzwords with nebulous value is an issue for the Poly-Reg board.

Easy.. no, it wont affect ticket sales. The same way kneeling didnt affect NFL tickets at all - at the time I worked in content acquisition. Trend prior to any kneeling was fewer sales to non-corporate buyers, most people analysis point to a few things driving lower demand for in-person sports (pre-covid): a) continued increases in total cost to attend; 2) better TV availability; and 3) general lower demand for long-form linear sports watching among the population 35 and under

RE: Will you be giving up your Tigers tickets?
Teams have worn military gear for years
Have worn stickers honoring many who died

And now suddenly a BLM sticker is just more than some can take?

You have to work so hard to be against this I wonder if it is worth it for you

Are you arguing that in our history black lives have been treated equally?
Are you of the mindset that advocating BLM means you don’t think other lives matter?
Are you searching for anything negative about BLM you can find instead of the generic idea that too often and systematically (and all evidence supports this) Black lives are treated unfairly?

Does it bother you that black athletes, most from this region, are behind the movement and wanting to make an organized stance? And that their coach supports that? And the the University President supports that?

If you are really trying to sell the idea that you just don’t think politics by any stretch should be involved, you must be ready for no national anthem at all. No US flag decals. No pink socks. No crosses. Certainly you are offended when a coach or player leads a public college team in prayer. No police honoring. Nothing

Because those words have been highjacked by a Marxist organization - I personally know no one who is against racial equality & would not tolerate them as friends if they were racists.

No you obstructive ass. It's telling who questions the fact that black lives matter.

No one questions the fact that black lives matter. No one. Questioning someone who acknowledges that fact, but adds “all” to that statement, is the most telling.

The administration did that the moment they put, on a helmet, the sticker of an organization that openly admits they want to destroy the "western-prescribed nuclear family structure."

I'm not going to do a poll, but I'm telling you, this may have consequences to season ticket sales. If you just HAVE to put a sticker on the helmet, do one that says "people of color mater" (POCM) or something, but DO NOT support that Marxist organization.

I have been a season ticket holder for the past 35 years and I will continue to support tiger football. I am very disappointed in people like you who cheer the black players when they are scoring touchdowns. However when the players complain about police brutality and social injustice in their communities by placing a sticker on the helmets you stop supporting the players. God blessed your heart.

There's your problem RIGHT THERE. I cheer ALL players, not just the black ones.
First I support all players no matter what the color of their skin but this is a black lives issue. Just for the record white players on the team also support the BLM stickers on the helmets. Throughout the world people of all races are supporting BLM. I am beginning to wonder are you really a tiger fan.
God blessed your heart.

No education needed...I know what those 3 words mean to me.

The organization was formed long after the slogan was coined...So you are saying no one should say it anymore because someone created an "organization".

That is where everyone is trying to twist everything to say everyone who says those 3 words are part of or support an organization...Those 3 words have a meaning on their own.

Ummmm you obviously need educating since you are saying "the organization was formed long after the slogan was coined".... the founders coined the tag and organization.

Id say educate yourself before saying anyone is twisting anything.

Its really sad that people have no clue about what is really happening.

No one needs to clog up this thread with examples of the systemic racism.

It would be never ending . Never ending threads that argue points like systemic racism are for the political religious forum.

You could start a thread there and ask for specific examples.
By all means please clog
