Who are the 5%? Everything is going "very well" for America
https://www.msn.com/en-us/finance/market...r-BB164UX2

Quote:Only 5% said things in America are going “very well,” against 40% who said they’re going “very badly,” according to the survey, taken June 23-26. Another 19% said things were “somewhat well” and 36% said “somewhat badly.”

This poll just makes me laugh. First, I don't care how far up Trump's rear you have your head stuck...how do you come up with "things in America are going very well". The only way I think you could think that is if you are a sadist anarchist that enjoys total insanity. That, or you are locked in your parent's basement with supplies for a decade or more and have turned off the TV.

Of course Bloomberg is the source of the article.

In every poll, there's a small percent that aren't really paying attention and will pick an option without really meaning to.

That's how you get some ridiculous outcomes like "1 percent of people think the earth is square" or "2% of high school freshmen use cocaine every day"

That 5% matches the communist sympathizers. Of course they are the ones thinking everything is fine. Couldn’t be going better for them...

IMO, it could that 5% may represent those that COVID hasn't impacted materially and just don't have any interest in politics, etc. Of course, there will always be the oblivious. If one hasn't been financially impacted or health impacted by COVID nor pays much attention to politics, etc I can see those people seeing things going well, but primarily for themselves.

The 5% are members of Congress, their immediate family, and the swaths of paper pushers pulling down six figures while filling the halls of government programs all over Maryland and NoVa.

Exactly. As Reagan said, the closest thing to eternal life that we will ever see on earth is a federal bureaucracy.

To be fair, its all relative. The world as a whole is in a very bad state right now. The truth is, where other than America would you really want to be right now?

Frankly, my question would lie with those who believe we should have everything closed down and huddle in our homes until we have a cure. That’s not going to work. It’s a pandemic folks. People are going to die. I’m not sure who told you we could make it through the pandemic without significant loss of life. That was never an option.

The best we can do is attempt to limit unnecessary deaths due to lack of treatment capacity. That’s what flattening the curve is about. It never meant we weren’t going to have significant casualties. Wear a mask, and if you are older or have underlying health issues, avoid crowded locations. We have to continue to allow the people to earn a living whenever possible.

As for race issues, that’s an open wound that’s been there for decades. We have some people who make money by fermenting racial strife and, it just so happens, those folks are useful to the Democrats right now. Magnify their power using fake news DNC lame stream news and you can send us back to the 1960’s real fast. But let’s be honest, Black-White relations on a day to day basis are nothing like what we had in the 1960’s. While we all know there are some racist out there, 99.9% of American treat all creeds and races politely and wish nobody any harm. Most toil at work and live in neighborhoods with members of every race—never thinking much about the race of their co-workers and neighbors....until someone decides its a good time to try to whip up racial hatred....then it gets ugly for a while like it did with Rodney King or OJ. We will get past it because America is largely a fair place filled with good people.

Well---nobody is stopping anyone from moving there. Dont know much about New Zeland, but Australia has always struck me as the US about 50-100 years ago in terms of their attitudes and gusto for life. Thats on my bucket list to visit.

This. That was the first thing I thought of. The ones causing all of the problems would be the ones thinking everything is going great. Trump supporters KNOW things are in the dumps due to the Marxists trying to destroy the country.

Don't worry I might. My brother is about to be an Australian citizen, has lived there full time for close to a decade, and it beats the hell out of America. Not to be morbid but once my parents are no longer alive I won't have a damn thing that keeps me here. You should go visit it's absolutely worth the trip.

Definitely New Zealand. It has no poisonous snakes, no stinging insects except for something akin to the South Georgia sand gnat, has a stable economy, the only socialized medicine system that works because they don't let immigrants in unless they have 20 or more working years left before retirement or a unique business to offer that won't eliminate existing business, and you can go from snow skiing to water skiing in half a day if you like. And the crime rate is relatively low.

The only drawback is you had better like mutton and tolerate earthquakes.

My wife and I were two deaths away from immigrating there in 1983 as we saw the coming troubles in the U.S.. Had we both not lost a grandparent that year, which made us realize how much it would have cost to travel home for two funerals, we were ready to go.

I was ready to go there in 1979. Then Reagan won the 1980 election and so I decided to stay. Still not sure whether that was the right decision or not.

It's not moot for us. We are past the age for immigration to New Zealand and would not qualify for the medical coverage because of it.
