Same. We made a decision to go with the dark blue in the 90s. The ship has sailed. Keep the dark blue as the primary branded color. Use light blue as accents or for a "throwback" only. It looks too much like we're ripping off UNC anyway. But most importantly, keep the dark for brand continuity.

It's fine as an accent color in very, very small doses. It should never be used as the primary color for a jersey, we are not UNC. I'm fully on board with a silver jersey though.

I like light blue but I also went to Indian River so the light blue/dark blue combo has a sentimental appeal. Light blue is distinct and dark blue is common, so I could see it as an alternate uniform (like the Miami Heat Vicewave jerseys). But the coach comes from Penn State. I have a feeling that given a choice, the blue that looks more like Penn State will be the safe bet.

But having a light blue kit also increases the number of combinations we can use (that actually look good together). Right now we have Navy/White/Black. We can't mix the black with anything because Black/White looks weird, and black and blue look too similar so there's no point.

Right now:
All Black
All Blue
All White
Blue Jersey/White Pants
White Jersey/Blue Pants

and that's it. Light blue, if done right, would look good with all of Black/Navy/White uniform combos, and would increase our number of combos gigantically!

I know that Silver would do a lot of the above as well (and honestly I'd love a Silver kit over a Black kit), but silver would bring no pop to the uniform and would make most of the sets monochromatic, none of which scream ODU to me at all.

No one's suggesting we get rid of the navy blue uni's, but tons of programs have multiple kits with different colors. Honestly ODU's current kit is one of the most boring ones in college football.

Or I guess we could just stick with blue and white and be ripping off Penn State, Duke, Kentucky, Rice, BYU, UConn, Memphis, Nevada, Georgia State, Georgia Southern, Utah State, Air Force, and UNC (cause they have a dark blue uni now too)

I'm for as many different looks at they want to bring. Especially if the student athletes like them.

But right now, we were rolling pretty much like Penn State before hiring their OC so I'll be really surprised to see a change anytime soon.

The monochromatic looks are awful. I hate that almost as much as I do the idea of a light blue jersey. You add a silver jersey and pants into the rotation and you have something. The blue and black jerseys would look good with silver pants. Silver jerseys would work with any of the pants, less so the white but could work depending on the silver they went with.

We could do a lot worse than looking like Penn State.

I would be happy if they back to Old Dominion on the front versus the alphabet soup jerseys of recent years

Light blue can work very well. Look at Tulane as an example. I personally really like this look and it can be used to mix and match with other uniform elements.

Just add some silver pants, would be great with white, black or dark blue jerseys.

Based on their ticket marketing, looks like we’re going back to the chef’s hat on the helmet.

Not great, but it makes sense. Its the most functional, and thats the only helmet that you can read "ODU" on. And at least the "chef's hat" crown is wayyyyy better than the "academic logo crown". That thing is atrocious. I might shed a tear if I had to look at that on a helmet. My favorite is the dark blue helmet with the silver shield, but I can get behind the chef hat logo helmet too.

I like the interlocking OD Baseball logo, but have no illusion that it will ever be the go to logo. IMO, it is the only logo we have that looks like it belongs to an established program that has some history. Everything else looks to some degree like an arena football team trying to come up with something cute and just a little bit of edginess.

You mean our lion head on a bears body pawing at the air doesn't do it for you? I agree I really like the baseball hat logo with the OD
