I'm right there with you Mark. Auburn is just a scosh of unnecessary and unwarranted concessions away from no longer having my business or respect.

We are one of the two most historical schools in Alabama and the only one of the two which is a land grant school here. Our engineering and aerospace engineering are extremely solid as is our veterinary medicine which also does cancer research. That is the focus of what we are. In a school of 25 thousand students the demands of 4 or 5 dozen immature and petulant 18-22 year olds who misinterpret history by some twisted sense of deprivation when they are among the most privileged of all students here simply shouldn't be permitted to redefine the school. The mission of the school is education. If that mission is ignored to appease ignorant demands a concession essentially abnegates the pursuit of truth in all other endeavors including history and historical context. It's not only insane but asinine.

I have watched some in "years" as you say. I actually went to a regular season game 2 years ago. But admit that I have not watched a single game during the 2019-2020 season. Too much life going on.

Of course you haven't watched a game in years...the Knicks? really? I was a bandwagon Golden State Fan while I lived in Cali.

There is really no appeal in watching the regular season and first round of the playofffs.

I tried watching game 7 a few years ago when Cleveland knocked off the Warriors. It was a close game with a lot at stake. I switched it off twice because I was bored to tears watching it.

I’m rapidly approaching not giving two craps about college sports as well. The whole thing at K-State should rock people to their core. The football team is basically trying to blackmail the university into punishing a student for practicing his 1st Amendment rights as guaranteed by the Constitution.
I heard on the news this morning that it is now trickling down into the high school level. A top recruit for Ohio State said he will skip playing his senior season in high school because he was offended by a classmate’s tweet. Of course the Ohio State coaching staff supports his decision.

NBA gonna paint Black Lives Matter on their courts. I would assume due to peer pressure, other leagues will do the same. Colleges too. As we’ve looked ahead with anticipation to sports returning, they all seem to want to interject politics. Deadline for Memphis football season tix is tomorrow and I am leaning towards not renewing. Just can’t deal w/ the morons kneeling, the constant BLM crap at the center of everything sports right now.

Truly we should all raise entrance requirements and simply go back to student athletes. That would bring this whole mess to a grinding halt and then when players graduated they would return as grateful alumni. Wouldn't that be refreshing!

Too much money, can't get that back in the bottle. You can always watch Ivy and Patriot League football.

Euro soccer is already plastering Black Lives Matter all over their stadiums & uniforms. You can expect it at most of the US pro sports leagues. Maybe not NHL, and hopefully not college.

If they want to paint that crap on the court fine, but they should have a running counter next to the start board (like the national debt clock) with black on black killings as well posted for all to see.

Doesn't fit narrative. Its always someone else's or the system's fault.

MLB is my favorite sport and looks to be the 1st one back. I'll give them a chance on TV, but will tune out once they start the BLM crap. Ultimately, the sports world would be the only place in my day to day life of being subjected to the liberal nonsense and I can easily ignore them if needed. So glad I don't have to deal with that **** at home or work.

A good friend of mine played basketball professionally in Europe years ago. He said Europeans are the most racist group of people you could ever meet. This is funny stuff.

Then he has never gotten to know the Chinese. They have no racial problems. They only have Chinese and that is their official policy. Yet they pay to sow racial division here. Imagine that!

RE: NBA goes open political
Marxism matters.

Quote:Along with endorsing players putting social justice messages on the backs of their jerseys, the NBA is working with the players union to paint “Black Lives Matter” on both sides of the courts in Walt Disney World arenas, where the league will play when it resumes its coronavirus-paused season in late-July. Despite the league’s efforts to incorporate social justice themed protests into its games, some players are still planning on opting out of playing in order to focus on activism.

The NBA’s Disney courts decision follows players “insist[ing] that the fight for racial equality and social justice be a central part of the NBA’s return to play and the WNBA’s new season,” as well as several players stating they plan to stay off the court when play resumes “to focus on social justice issues,” ESPN reports.

“The NBA and National Basketball Players Association are planning to paint ‘Black Lives Matter’ on the court inside both sidelines in all three arenas the league will use at the Walt Disney World Resort when it resumes the 2019-20 season late next month in Orlando, Florida,” ESPN reported this week, citing league sources.

Sources told the network that the WNBA is also considering painting the slogan on the sides of courts at the IMG Academy in Florida, where the WNBA’s season will resume. Along with the reference to the far-left organization behind recent protests and riots, the WNBA is considering including the phrase “Say Her Name,” a reference to Breonna Taylor, who was shot dead by police in March, on the backs of their jerseys.

NBA players have also been given the greenlight to include social justice-themed statements on the backs of their jerseys, a move first reported following a conference call with the press on Friday that including union leaders from both leagues. The leagues, they said, were in discussions with the union to allow players to put their own messages on their jerseys in order to “call attention to racial equality, social justice and police brutality,” ESPN reported.

CBS Sports‘ Sam Quinn praised that decision as “powerful,” but argued that it “puts the onus on players.” The decision by the league to paint the politically charged slogan on its sidelines makes clear that the league stands fully behind the players’ activist message. “The league itself needed to send a message of solidarity, and is doing so with its latest decision,” Quinn writes.

Multiple players have announced that they plan to sit out the Disney games, some citing coronavirus fears, but others specifically stating that they are sitting out so they can focus their attention on social justice activism.

Won't be watching then. Been waiting for sports, even the NBA, but if they're gonna make it political & do that, I'll pass. I'll say it again, really hope that BS doesn't come to college & NHL.

I'm wondering what the 'social justice themed statements on the back of the jerseys' will include.

Same. I don't need to be preached to about social justice garbage while I am watching a game.

Yeah.

Aside from work preventing it, I quit watching NBA regular season games all together and only watch the playoffs. The playoffs is the only time I can be guaranteed consistent effort.

As for my local Hornets team, they are so far down the totem pole for tv in my area they relegated to a alt digital channel in 4:3 letterbox. I do watch most of their games as they get no coverage around here, but then again, they suck so...
