Campus construction projects continue
It will be interesting to see if the overhaul of the South Neighborhood continues as planned. If these projects were scheduled to start this year they probably would have been put on hold. Maybe not, I know there's a lot of complicated funding involved.
I like to check in on these webcams every week or so just to follow the progress. In a couple of years campus will be unrecognizable to anyone from my era.

Prob a good time to construct. Interest rate is basically nothing, cost is bonded not general fund, etc., infrastructure improvement an ongoing need.
Fun to watch those cams.

If any of the funding was from the State it has to be allocated and projects must be completed.

The new student center is really coming along now. After they got the foundation in, they've been flying through the rest. It's going to be a VERY nice place. A much needed upgrade from Bernhard.
I'm kinda jealous of all the upgrades going on around campus. I'll have to check them out when they're all done. I still haven't been inside the new alumni building, but I've heard it's great.

It looks like they've started the demolition of Draper/Siedschlag.

The student center has never been the same since pulling out the bowling alley.
Backed up to Bigelow and the rest of the quads cafeteria. Black Brothers of Bigelow Hall Danceathon.

RE: Campus construction projects continue
---I loved campus, but always thought Bernhard was a dump. I'm sure we lost prospective students due to it. Can't wait to see the new student center
---FYI, 'Waldo Stadium lighting improvements' is on the 2021 campus construction map on the website, for those who have thought the lighting there has been an issue the past few years, maybe that means they're fixing it?
---But what attracted me to the map, was I can't picture where the new Arcadia Flats apartments are that just opened. I thought they were on East campus, but now I see them -> they're the new apartments where the white apartments were everyone thought was an eyesore, by the new student center. Makes sense. I was wondering 'wow, I didn't know they were building apartments on East Campus too.'
--- I forget, what's going where the Little 3 were?

Pretty sure they're replacing the Waldo lights right now. They may even be finished. New lights will meet ESPN requirements for broadcast and they won't have to bring in portables anymore.

They are putting up the construction fencing around French, Davis and Zimmerman, so those will be coming down shortly.

Apparently they closed the bowling alley right before I arrived in 2000. I still haven't gotten over it.

"Arcadia Flats?" Why can't we name them after important people in WMU's history? Students will have plenty of time to live in over priced, under quality, multi-unit properties with crappy generic names when they graduate.
Floyd Hall would be much, much better.

Schools want to get out of naming buildings after people in their history. They think it makes it seem less school-ish & therefore more attractive to students.

You certainly can’t name buildings after crusty old white men anymore.

Didn't we already name the Engineering Campus after him?
