I hope they leave green space at where at least one of these dorms was. There's no way any on-campus housing building is near-full.

The architectural artwork shows a lot of green space through that area. I think they are putting in a hotel / conference center on that spot.

It's basically a new campus from my days in the mid 80's

The green space is being left, i believe it was a huge focus of this project to have more of a "traditional" campus feel and not the concrete jungle it was previously.

That top rendering looks great. Looks like there'll be a good-sized 'field'. I"ll miss the parking lot that used to be there, tho.

I don't see parking lots in general.....

I think I saw a parking ramp next to the field house and rec center on one of plans and near the proposed hotel

Interesting idea. It seems like the new hotel or the mixed use area across the street would be a better location.

Do they sell beer/wine at Miller during performances? Or is not allowed by Michigan?

Hadn't been paying attention to the campus projects.
The Burnham's were taken down at some point this spring.

Personally, I would like to see more consistency with buildings around campus. I realize that buildings are put up in different decades, but at some point leadership needs to take the reins and start a standard. Do you prefer a modern design over brick and mortar? No problem -- set the standard going forward.

It's similar to our branding problem. Keep the brown and metallic gold going forward but produce a retro line of brown and yellow for those that want it.

Completely agree. Style would look better if consistent across campus.

I agree, I've been saying it for years. We need to pick one architectural style. All the best campuses in the world have a cohesive design element, but ours feels like a hodgepodge of differing styles. EVERY new building is different from the last.

If we go classic red brick collegiate, stick with it. If we go brutalist, stick with it. If we go ultramodern steel and glass, stick with it. Don't reinvent the wheel every time a building needs to be replaced.
