Only applies if you are slower than the group in front of you. Otherwise, they got nowhere to go.

If they are faster, let them through and let them deal with the group in front of you.

exactly....that way they won't be hitting into you.
I had a guy hit me in the meaty part of the thigh on a par3...as i was getting into the golfcart... Dude shot way over the green--he was notorious for being coked-up 24/7
it hurt and left a perfectly round bruise

I play in a lot of charity golf scrambles where of course play is always very slow. 5.5 to 6 hours for a round. We had a group behind us that kept hitting into us despite it being obvious we had no where to go with groups in front of us. After about the third time I just hir their first two shots right back up toward the tee box...

No way. That just slows the course down even more, waiting on someone to play through your hole when they got nowhere to go. If everyone is keeping the same pace of play on the entire course, then that's all you can hope for. If someone allows a hole to empty-up in front of them, and there are players behind them, then they are the ones to start letting people play through. Somebody starts hitting into you, that's a whole other set of problems.

You mean some people go for other reasons? Cigars?
yes as I've made people mad in certain 4somes that I wasn't taking it "seriously".
1. Play fast
2. Don't walk in someone's line on the green
3. STFU for 10 seconds when someone is addressing the ball
You can completely suck and talk for 3 hours and 45 minutes out of 4 hours if you follow those rules. You can even break rules #2 and #3 if you walk over your own line and talk during your own shots. If you break rule #1 don't complain if mild acts of violence are committed against you.
Most decent games dont let people who completely suck, in the game...
No fun watching someone shoot the moon.

That's always an effective strategy.

Did you hit them back with an iron, a wood, or and automatic?

The first time I'll look back at them and do nothing. The next time I'll use whatever iron I'm holding to hit my shot to the green. If it happens again, I'll tee up a driver. If it happens again, I'll walk toward them with the driver.
That last thing hasn't happened in at least 20 years.
