Sean Frazier might as well go ahead and move the BYU game back to Huskie Stadium. No point in paying for a venue when you will only be allowed to use 20% of it.

Agreed. However, that would give us yet another Saturday home game at Huskie Stadium, and that it totally against how this administration operates. We can't have too many Saturday home games because that would spoil the fans and maybe they would start to attend the games again.

At least in the short term, attendance probably wont differ from Saturday and weekdays, people are not going to attend events for the foreseeable future. I think pro sports are in for a bit of a rude awakening when they get to a point fans are allowed back. You are going to have some scant attendance numbers for a long time.

I wonder how many season tickets holders NIU typically has each year?

I'm guessing 3,000 from what I remember past season ticket sales being but with no one knowing if football was going to be played or if fans would be allowed probably less this season. I think they're obligated to make a certain amount of the 20% capacity available to students since students pay an athletic fee each semester.

Since they can't let everyone into the stadium due to social distancing requirements, would they then have to select which season ticketholders could attend the games - games they already paid to attend? My guess is if they can't let in everyone who has a ticket, they may play in front of no fans. I mean, how could they make this equitable and let everyone sit in their assigned seats?

Would seem they have to give season ticket holders and XX amount of students priority. I don't see any single-game or walk-up ticket purchases being allowed since those would be hard to predict and anticipate, making it difficult to control it to exactly 4,900.

Do they create a website and/or app for season ticket holders to sign in the day before gameday and mark themselves as "attending" or "not attending"? This would allow them to know how many people will show and allow other season ticket holders or students a seat.

That is also the first weekend of IHSA football playoffs, with 128 games on tap and most on Saturday.

The thing is, once they allow the season ticket holders in, how do they control seating since seats are assigned? There are many season ticket holders who sit together in chair backs, bench backs, and other seats in the middle sections. Do they turn it all into general admission and tell people to spread out? What about those of us who pay a premium for our seats? This will be a problem they’ll need to address if they let fans in the stadium.

I would hope the NCAA along with medical experts would come up with a “safe” seating arrangement. Every other row empty. Two spaces between separate fans (but with the option of seats together for same group). Then, based on either seniority of season ticket holders or even a lottery, you pick your seats online like you do at a movie theater.

Very good assessment. Also, to ensure they fill every available/allowed seat, there will have to be some kind of over-subscription like the airlines used to do with stand-byes to make sure flights were full.

The problem is that some of us pay extra premiums to sit in our seats. Chairbacks premiums are $150 per seat. If there will be some seating arrangement where premium seat holders cannot sit in their seats, would there be a refund of the premium?

I would give premium ticket holders first pick. They probably have some algorithm to get an estimate of premium attendance. Some premium members may not go if high risk. Some may go but want to be as far away from others as possible. It’s one of those things where someone will probably get screwed. Maybe they move some premium seats to the visitor side? Maybe they could offer people vouchers of some kind to give up those premium seats? Like airlines do when over booked.

I’d hope if their solution isn’t satisfactory they’ll work with upset fans. But I also hope upset fans realize these are unique and uncontrollable scenarios.

I also did not renew. To answer the question, yes I was called by a ticket rep a couple of times.
