For me, it is who we are going to play as an FBS that matters? I am a season ticket holder and want to see entertaining games. If I am giving up playoffs, I want to see a conference schedule that gets me excited. Pay game beat downs at Ohio St. don’t do a thing for me. Why anyone gets excited getting their butt handed to them on a silver platter by a big name school is hard for me to understand. It is no better than beating Norfolk St. by a wide margin. It isn’t entertainment.
I look forward to JMU playing in a competitive FBS league loaded with rivalries some day. I just hope I am alive to witness those games in person.
I agree with that. Getting clobbered by Ohio State, Clemson, and Bama is not worth it. The likely embarrassing score would do more damage to our brand than the money would do us good.
However, if FBS indy, we were to schedule Liberty, UNC, NCS, ECU, Coastal, Navy, Army, UConn, a couple of MACs, Delaware, ODU, And Ga Tech, that is a schedule we go at least 7-5 with, become relevant, and gain respect and exposure, instead of being laughed at as our true peers are doing amazing things from the high dive while we are wading in the kiddie pool.

ECU was doing this very thing and doing it well, then some felt that wasn't enough, they fired their coach and it sucked the life out of their program.

Can anyone confirm if Dukeman2 is doing alright after his favorite football team cancelled their ENTIRE 2020 season while the rest of their conference went on without them?
slight correction, ODU is Dukeman1/2/3/4/3PO's 3rd favorite team.
his loyalties go:
App State
Charlotte
ODU
JMU
although Coastal might crack that top 4 and bump his alma mater down a notch soon.
I'm pretty confident his loyalties go:
JMU
ASU
He has a different way of expressing it, but his goal is to improve JMU.

Boston college is the first of what is expected to be many schools opting out of a bowl game this year.
Without the week of fun and free gifts, the BC players have decided they would rather go home then play in what amounts to a road exhibition game.
Can’t say I blame them.

Me, either. As I have said numerous times, it isn't the single post-season Toilet Bowl in front of 8,000 fans that is great about FBS. It is the opportunity to play 12 solid schools during the regular season. Make it an indy schedule and multiply the regular season excitement factor by 10.

There are entire fcs conferences that opt out of the fcs playoffs every year, not just a covid year.

One note from the hoops telecast - they mentioned the most recent Covid pause was due to a walk on player contracting Covid and the contract tracing associated with it. I know when the Maryland game was cancelled some fans were critical of the players. Not sure if this changes someone’s view but I found it interesting that it wasn’t a scholarship guy. Obvious could happen to anyone but that stinks.

I heard the comment, but wasn’t sure the announcer was referring to JMU, VCU or some other program. Perhaps someone recorded the game can review and clarify.

When should we expect the news about attendance (or lack thereof) this spring?

probably the week of the games... if there end up being any. I don't see Northam relaxing the 250-person rule for February football. If the capacity is 250 it'll probably be media and player families in attendance.

The way I look at it, less obstacles to the NC.

We need more games. Play two in Fargo, two in Hburg, and one in Orlando as a test for future champ locations.
