Less worried about the future
Went to a pool party/ cookout for my niece's graduation. I was surprised at how many of her friends are big Trump supporters (ages 18-21) and all will be voting for the 1st time. As I sat there talking some politics w/ these kids, I was amazed. They are smart, informed and want no part of socialism. Now granted, they all are products of a conservative private HS that is probably 98% white, but a few were college fr/ sophs that go to Memphis, Ole Miss, Alabama and Tennessee so they have been on campus to receive some liberal indoctrination. A lot of them got out of the pool to go watch the rally on TV. It seems the narrative is that all kids in that age group are mindless AOC loving morons, but that group of kids gets it, and to hear them talk, there's lots just like them out there. Made me smile.

Not sure what they're calling this latest generation of college age kids and a little older but I've noticed they aren't nearly as mindless as Gen X'rs. My girlfriends daughter, while not strictly conservative, might as well be defined as a social conservative who holds views from both ideologies. While she's a very emotionally immature 18 year old she is pretty mature ideologically. I might even go so far as to say she leans libertarian with a slightly right bend.

Fortunately for us most of the young morons are too lazy to vote in person.

Why we must fight mail in voting

Thanks for sharing. I have some thoughts & reasons why younger generations might be more conservative, but the data still shows they largely vote Democrat so it'd be speculation

Ooh.. i'd seriously disagree with this. Most of the college age kids I've seen have been very vocal about being out-and-out Socialists.

I think they've realized that a lot of the Gen X'ers are mindless "follow the demoncrat" leadership and don't want to go "exactly' that way, but are still left leaning in their beliefs and as such latched on to Bernie in 2016.

As long as colleges are wells of modern liberal/democrats, the new millenium may fight them, but they'll try to do it from the even further left of the spectrum (majority)

I think you are getting GenX mixed up with GenY (Millennials). The current generation is GenZ and so far have shown to be more conservative.

RE: Less worried about the future
I was born early 90s. Seems like my generation grew up w/ Bill Clinton and were told he was a good president. Strike 1 vs GOP. Then when they first started getting into politics, it was under Bush, who'd I argue is/was more hated then Trump. Strike 2 vs GOP. Then Obama got into office promising hope & change as first black president. Strike 3 vs GOP. And that got them voting Democrat indefinitely.

Combine that w/ the Democrat Party being more vocal about going Far Left, and it's not a shock to me my generation could be more liberal than current young generation. Indeed, most of these rioters/protestors, look to be about my age & younger. Certainly would've been told by older brothers/sisters about Bush & Clinton

Eh, younger people of any generation usuallly tend more liberal. It's when the get older and actually gain more responsibilties that many become more conservative. Not all, obviously, but quite a few.

I said it in another thread. Gen Z is not like the millenials. They've grown up with 4 years of media and expert lies and have learned to think for themselves. They tend to be pretty libertarian socially like the millenials, but not so liberal politically.

My 11 year old son and his friends are extremely conservative, more so than any of us... to the point that I have to constantly remind them of being cautious of what they say around mixed company.

The liberal indoctrination starts in grade school. College just reaffirms the already instilled bias and convinces them that what they were told in high school was true. We have to take back public education from the NEA and give authority over it back to the counties and parishes. That way local parents have a say.

Why? Or is that just a slam against southern people who live in rural areas and have people over to swim?

It was a 10 minute drive from where he works and the adults in attendance were cops, firefighters, nurses, and a dentist.

I'm not sure that you should be surprised that a close relative of yours (raised by even closer relatives of yours) has friends (from around the same background that she is), who share opinions with you.

That's like being surprised that an apple tree that you planted ended up growing apples or that a police car has police in it.

Not so much my niece, but her friends and them talking about their friends in college and what not. Just refreshing to see late teen/ twenty something's who aren't brain dead liberal fools.

Bullet, one of the big reasons young teens switch to Rep is when they realize how much and to whom their tax dollars are going to. The one's that don't work have that to worry about. It's fun for them wanting others to give to those that don't work because they're part of that group.
