UC has won 15 straight, mostly by large margins. The fan interest and school funding of the two programs is so far apart it is comical. The series is only still around because UC no longer plays another close rival (ie. Louisville, Pitt and WVU). Now I realize someone like Bullet or Miami (OH Yeah!) will remind people Miami leads the all-time series 58-59-- but neither of these two live in Greater Cincinnati and understand the dynamics at play. A lot has changed over the past 15 years. Even the large majority of Miami alums/students recognize this.

UC really doesn't have an active rival in football right now.

Results on the field don't solely determine whether a rivalry is a thing or not - if that were true then Army-Navy or OSU-Michigan would be an order of magnitude less intense now than before getting lopsided for years.

Lack of interest mostly stems from Miami going through our worst decade of football ever while UC went through its greatest (also coinciding with power conference affiliation and its immediate aftermath). Will we probably lose our series lead soon? Decent chance. Is it impossible the rivalry is destined for ultimate obscurity? Hardly. Miami hasn't had back to back winning seasons since 2004-05, if we actually continue our momentum off the MAC title the game can be relevant again.

Meh, a lot of schools can say that. As a UC fan, I can point out a number of self-inflicted wounds past and present that have damaged out athletic department. The Tuberville hire by then AD Whit Babcock was malpractice. He did not even vet the candidate or interview any other candidates. Our 300,000+ living alumni have not always done their part. The school posted a self-inflicted death sentence on the basketball program back in 2004/2005 by not letting coaches recruit for two years amid the Huggins firing/Andy Kennedy fiasco. They then de-emphasized the Olympic sports doe nearly a decade.

I want UAB because of proximity. But not sure they would generate the necessary hate.

Well we'll see starting in 2027 if some hate can be generating from our 1st meeting. 1st game is Sept. 18th at your state of art stadium!
Are you trying to start some animosity. LOL

SMU vs TCU: Battle for the Iron Skillet
Navy vs Notre Dame

If you're throwing in G5 vs P5 then you have to have UC vs Louisville - Keg of Nails

You don't really have to have it, because it's no longer played.

Who ended up with the Keg of Nails, anyway, and what do you reckon they aim to build with it? It'd be a darn shame for a good Keg of Nails to go to waste.

Yeah how is Army-Navy not on the top 5. It's on the Top 1 and not even close. They've been playing each other since 1544.

Most people don't consider Army-Navy to be a G5 rivalry

Bowling Green-Toledo belongs near the top of any list. The series is tied 40-40-4, and some of these games have been epic. Last year, the Falcons won despite being a 26-point underdog.

Is that the battle of Interstate 10 or the battle of 1 win, 10 loss teams?

#1 UCF vs USF

#2 App vs GaSo

#3 CSU vs Wyo

SDSU vs Navy should be an annual game and would make for a great rivalry.

Boise v Nevada was hot for a decade but has cooled off a bit.

stAte vs Louisiana would be much bigger if they both were good at the same time.

Tech vs Louisiana has all the makings for a great rivalry if they were in the same conference. There is no shortage of hate there.

You have perfectly summarized the battle of 1 and 10.

Pirates vs Navy is a rivalry that could have legs.

THE CLASH FOR THE ATLANTIC HIGH SEAS

ECU vs Marshall has some specific history to it and it's likely to be the 1st game played this year on ABC. The game will honor the 50th anniversary of the crash on week 0 after a 7-year hiatus in the series. Rumor has it that college gameday is likely to be there.

Bought a plane ticket and booked hotel the day this game was announced for Week 0. It's college football history.
