You just described all liberals.

Do all libs ‘hate’ on you... while all cons love you...

On this forum, you have gotten into it with cons and libs alike...not that there’s anything wrong with that. lol

As for the OP, I haven’t listened since people here stopped posting links to the Keef Times.

Cons?

Unlike libs I support the President of the United States.

I don't really notice what anybody is.

That’s the way it should be. 04-cheers

You're a cuckold.

Seems you have some deep underlying sexual frustrations. Therapy might help

But you're really not as cool as you would like to be

No point in trying to carry on a conversation with her. She's the person who stated that there were "no heroes in the Civil War".

Discussion and debate is pointless.

You are correct about one thing. There can be no discussion with anyone who holds such a myopic view of our history, especially if you believe exactly what you were fed in grade school.

Many scholars discuss the Civil War and how it could have been avoided. Most of the discussions center around the sitting President.

No one knows for certain, of course, because history affords us no mulligans, but people engage in rational discussions none the less. Lincoln, as one might imagine, is no hero in those ongoing discussions.

One main cause of the war was the election of Abraham Lincoln as President. As soon as he was elected in 1860, 11 Southern states seceded from The Union.

Lincoln, declared these acts of secession illegal, and asked Congress for 500,000 soldiers to prevent a potential rebellion. Maybe he should have foreseen the end to this aggressive path...and tried another approach.

The Southern states did not support Lincoln, and many scholars say he favored the Northern States. A solution to this problem would have been to impeach President Lincoln and replace him with someone who didn't care about the Union or Confederate States.

The Civil War began in April 1861, and lasted for four years.

Over 600,000 soldiers were killed and millions more were maimed and wounded. This number does not include civilians or the newly freed population--many of whom were murdered along the way.

The war left the South devastated with no recovery plan in place for any folks living there. Our country was torn apart.... literally. These were very dark times, and, historically speaking, not that long ago.

In conclusion, I see no reason to glorify any part of this war. But I'm not much for putting 'Warriors' on a pedestal unless they can bust a trey.

Not really. There are so many things in that post that are wrong, distorted, or ignorant, that there's no point in attempting a retort. I don't possess the energy and even if I did, folks are so set in the beliefs, that it wouldn't change her mind anyway.

Orange Man Bad. White People Racist. All Historical Figures Evil. Blah, blah, blah.

RE: Does anyone currently still listen to local sports talk radio?
I was addicted to sports talk radio from the advent of it until about 10 years ago.

Eventually I made the transition from car to internet to listen while I worked. After I moved to Dallas I listened during my commute every day. At first it was exciting because they have so many professional sports and multiple conferences to talk about, even some retired Cowboys to make it interesting.

But in the long run that wore off, they weren't any better than the shows in Memphis and I just stopped listening. I honestly can't remember the last time I listened to sports talk radio.

Ready to have your mind blown...?

The local sports talk in Memphis is FAR better than the local sports talk in Tulsa. Let that sink in.

To help veer this car back on the road fully ... let's keep the politics to your opinions of how local sports talk radio use/abuse politics (on topic). If you want to engage each other on politics please do so on the political board. You don't have to agree with what everybody has said. Throw your own 2 cents out there regarding politics in sports radio instead of veering us into a head to head political poo fling.

Just curious.. without the war, would the states that succeeded have voluntarily ended slavery? I mean... that was their plan... right?

or do you think the institution of slavery would've continued for years, maybe even decades?

Used to (6 months ago) listen to sports talk regularly but no more. If I wanted to listen to ignorant, poorly informed politics I would listen to MSNBC and that ilk. I always felt sports to be an escape from the sludge of the day. No more. It is just as hysterical as regular news.
Fortunately I've found more intellectually stimulating entertainment.
