[quote="long green"] [quote="bagpipes"] I still think it is between LA TECH, NTU, and UTEP.

We're not going to revolt and leave, and neither are you guys. Nobody is. Not over one school. I don't care if it's on Mars, if that school got the necessary 8 votes we'd all just deal with it.

you're a real charmer Cane Gang. Thinking about tying up expansion if it doesn't go your way? Try it. Try it and say hello to Karl Benson for me.

Remember the WAC? Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

long, you are 180 degrees off on this. We're not going to hijack the vote. That's is completely the opposite of what I'm saying.

You're the one saying the east schools are going to revolt if they don't get their way. I'm saying it takes 8 votes for something to happen, so the same schools you claim would revolt would probably prevent the thing from passing in the first place. You have safety in numbers. I'm pointing out that the 8 vote thing works in your favor. That's ALL I'm saying.

Again, you're the one threatening to take your ball and go home if you don't like the game. So I stand by my slam. That kind of noise doesn't add anything to the discussion. Most of the long term C-USA schools would call that a Louisville attitude, I think...

No one compromises so we end up destroying the MAC by taking more MAC teams. What in the hell are we doing? CUSA needs the MAC just as surely MWC needs the WAC for possible nonconfernce games and possible bowls. This expansion process was supposed to take time to be careful; seems to be going the opposite direction. You are not going to get a school with both good basketball and good football. So make your decision....Temple for good basketball or North Texas for football.
Neither Temple nor NTexas bring anyting to C-USA's table.

Neither will be invited.

Four, actually.

-- Atlantic University Sport
-- Quebec Student Sports Federation
-- Ontario University Athletics
-- Canada West Universities Athletic Association

I was talking to a guy who washes the car of the woman who cuts the hair of the wife of the athletic director at Alabama-Birmingham ... and the rumor is Laval would join Conference USA if invited.

As everyone knows, the mighty Rouge et Or of Quebec City are a perinnial power. Not only did Laval dethrone two-time national champion St. Mary's in winning the national championship last year, they scored an *average* of 60 points per game during the 2003 regular season and hit the 92 point mark *twice*.

And, of course, it was Laval's second national title in five seasons.

But I hear some Conference USA schools are skeptical. The problem: the Laval Rouge et Or averaged just 12,403 in their last home game against Montreal.

They fit the footprint, and they could start a football team that plays in the Carolina Panther's stadium.

you are right and you are wrong. What Richard Giannini had to say yesterday is very significant. If BB wants to add a 12th team from the West and that only, just you watch how the rest of the league reacts.
At the top of the list of why TCU left according to our local paper (the Fort Worth Star Telegram) was because of the soon-to-be weakening of CUSA's TV package due to the loss of the schools to the Big East, and now even including the Horned Frogs themselves.

So a few on this board's answer to replacing TCU (which "WAS" the CUSA TV market in the Metroplex for all practical purposes) is to replace the Horned Frogs with non TV market schools or schools not even in the geographical mainstream of CUSA.

I'd be more concerned about the CUSA TV market shortfall in all this rather than the geography of where its next new member school(s) are located. I also think your commissioner would have been wise to have run a study of why TCU left and what can keep history from repeating itself in regards to CUSA.

CUSA should go to 14 teams for insurance because I don't think the exodus of CUSA schools is over by a long shot.

By letting Louie & Cincy go the way they are C-USA also keeps their TV deal the same.

Believe me, it's been discussed. No dice; they're not interested - at least not enough to pursue it.

i don't understand what that means.

are you saying that cincy and louisville leaving somehow made up for the loss of tcu on the tv package? because that would make no sense at all.

by losing cincy and louisville (not to mention most of the other power bb schools), cusa's tv package is losing a lot of its value. the package may be allowed to run its course as is (is that what you mean?) if there isn't much time left on it anyway, but the next one will be adjusted down significantly.

the losses in fb will adjust it down as well - with the losses of louisville and tcu.
