I choose the 'specter' of racism over the Harrison Bergeron preview.

I'm more in the Gattaca camp that precedes H.G. Wells...but, Ja?!
People, any people, don't know what they value until they have to bleed for it. We have a bunch of reformers today who don't know what they are trying to reform, how the reform actually works, and who is paying and encouraging them to push for reform, and how those reforms benefit the organization pushing them to protest.
In other words they really haven't risked anything and have no skin or blood in the game.
When lead flies and friends are laid on the slab, priorities change pretty damned fast and the appreciation of what you actually had weighed against the enormity of what you stand to lose tends to make all violent reform look like the idiocy it is.
I'm not being a hardliner when I ask for a physical crackdown on these protests. What I am actually asking for before it comes to killing, is a show of force that makes many of these protestors ask more serious and fundamental questions of themselves. Is this what I really believe matters? Am I willing to give possibly my life to attain it?
When they are forced to answer those two questions by a relatively mild but forceful response many of these weekend warriors will take their ass home to safety. When that happens the hard core protestors, true believers, and organizers will be left, that is if the organizers don't bug out at that opportunity as well as most of them stay well back of the fray and believe fully in waiting for a better opportunity before they put it all on the line.
Reduce the opposing force by defection of the not fully committed and we have enough jail space, or enough force, to eradicate them without harming the morons who have been duped into being there.
