With Iowa suspending ticket sales, it doesn't look good for a fall season but I'm holding out hope we have at least an abbreviated one without fans in the stands.

All MLB Training camps have shut down, as multiple teams report players and personnel having now contracted the virus . . ....

Sooooo, just a question . . . How you gonna carry out, much less complete a (high contact sport) football season once multiple players and staff members start contracting the virus?

What's the plan if/when multiple players/coaches end up in quarantine?

The Virus don't care about your plans . . ..

Virus jus' gonna virus . . .

Be safe, y'all . . . and yeah, put on a mask when you go out.

High schools can have workouts and youth sports are back on, basketball, baseball and softball. Yet for some reason, the people paid millions to do it can’t figure out how to make that happen. Again, makes no sense to me.

Based upon my posts some likely think I'm in the "no mask" club, I'm not. But I wear the mask for a reason you may not think of.

I don't believe the majority of masks are that effective (many also wear them wrong), see how effective your facial covering is here: https://informationisbeautiful.net/visua...-datapack/

However wearing a mask around others makes them more comfortable and more likely to get back to economic driving activities.

We must get back to activities that help bring back jobs and provide ALL children educational opportunities. We are hurting those in the lower quartile the most everyday we don't get back to those types of activities.

So no one should ever drive a car anymore by that logic, right? Because you could get in a freak accident and kill someone’s family member. So we should all stay home forever, right?

Not sure I completely understand the logic of destroy the economy, education system, life styles and lively hood for the possibility of getting a virus that may or may not make you sick, and yes, could, in the extreme, kill you.

AIDS started in the 80’s, have sex and die, people didn’t stop having sex, people did a better job of protecting themselves, but continued with life. At some point we have to accept this is now a part of our world, and always will be. Medical will continue to get better, but at some point we must continue with life, with all the threats that includes.
You see that as comparable?

You were not potentially exposed to AIDS by walking through a store.

They suspended ticket sales probably because they were getting close to 50% capacity at their stadium when taking into account students and opposing fans in the stands. Smarter to not sell tickets when they aren't guaranteed a seat than doing so and having to refund money.

So wear the mask correctly. And it works. Your nasty spit and phlegm ends up in the mask and not on the person around your. Forget East Asia. Look at the EU vs the USA since they started doing things correctly.

If you're worried about the economy then should have been wearing a mask since March or April and we would BE back to normal NOW.[Image: 53e67e8c95802f1901d81f1b48639079.jpg]

If we had been wearing masks we’d be back to normal now, I’ve seen some crazy claims on both sides of the debate, but you win the prize today.

Yeah that’s not how you science.

Normal isn’t going to occur for awhile even if everyone wears a mask.

So let me get this straight. By people spending two months laughing at people with masks, not properly social distancing, making a political issue of a medical issue which led to 1/4 of the cases on Earth being in one country, you're saying we would still have 2.2M cases if we had done the OPPOSITE of all of the above???

Do you think you have all these cases due to magix or maybe people doing stupid stuff like still not wearing masks and gloves TODAY!?

Wanna science stuff? Take two disparate data sets a d figure out what is occurring differently from one group to the other. Why are the results different. What are the members of the groups doing and compare. I can promise you nobody in East Asia is pretending to be an Offensive Lineman in a
supercenter. This is all batcrap crazy and the only thing more batcrap crazy than people trying to rationalize away a virus that dont care is people not realizing from the outside looking in how batcrap crazy allow this looks.

My goodness, let’s take extreme examples and read more into what I wrote.

Masks help contain the spread, I wear a mask in common areas, have since April as I have been the designated shopper for necessary items in my household.

I also know that wearing a mask isn’t going to completely defeat this virus and things will magically return to normal.

People concentrate on the extremes and miss the majority that live in the middle. This exchange is a perfect example of that.

RE: Current thoughts on the COVID as of June 19
The reality of the situation is that we live in two different Americas right now.

One side of America sees the virus as a lurking threat, and is highly likely to stay home for large periods of time, wear masks constantly, and avoid crowds at all costs to avoid getting sick. They fear for their relatives and friends getting sick, and would rather not reopen the economy until the Virus is a fading threat. They are scared to death of sending their kids to school in the fall for fear that they'll get sick.

Another side of America either does not care about the virus, or sees it as a threat that is not equivalent to the economic risk of staying closed. They see masks as violating their freedom of expression. They are individualistic in nature, and while they care deeply about their family and friends, they are not likely to care if Joe Smith down the street contracts Covid. They are the type people who are threatening to pull their kids out of school in the Fall because they don't like the idea of them not having play time or being forced to sit 6 feet apart from all their friends without making contact.

I have 1 friend who has not left her house in 3 months now outside of trips to the doctor and grocery store. Her children have not left the house at all and have had no contact with their friends since March.

I have another friend who sent their preteen daughter on vacation with a friends family to Florida this week. Sure they are completely aware that there are risks involved, but the kid hadn't seen any of her friends in months and it was a risk they were willing to let her take.

I think both people have their points, and both are likely right. We are a nation of individuals. People shouldn't feel forced to go out, but if they want to go out and go somewhere with friends, they shouldn't be harassed for it either. There are ways to stop this, but they involve heavily policed lockdowns with full protections of its citizens. Simply put, there's no way to effectively do that in the United States.

the risk is overwhelming the medical system. the frustration for many is knowing that if people had been encourage to wear masks in public instead of being told its a hoax this thing would be far less serious right now.

Which hospitals are overwhelmed? No news in NC about that. NY was never overwhelmed even at its peak. That risk can be mitigated by a few easy measures.

I think we’re missing the Americans in the middle that wear masks in public places, take precautions to clean hands more frequently, social distance, and believe if others take these minimal steps we all can get back to visiting public places and gathering with social distancing measures.

If we don’t get kids back to school some students will be lost forever, some business/establishments will never return.

Like many things in life, if everyone acts responsibly and treat others with respect it will be a better place.
