Great attitude. 2.2M cases. 1/4 of the world total. LOL. This is all nuts.

Because people didn't really shut down. People kept going to the store . Kept going to the beach. Kept having parties. And most didn't wear masks the first 4 weeks. My Delivery people from Instacart and Walmart and Amazon largely STILL don't. Don't blame the shutdown. Blame the lack of a serious shutdown.

I am curious as to have they counted Covid19 deaths in a lot of countries. This virus doesn't magically dissapear because people spend a few weeks in solitary. I'm sure they were able to do a better job in containment, but our numbers of dead are so inflated its comical.
I have been to Korea 4 times and spent maybe a total of four months there. Talks to people there a couple times a week. Masks are a part of the culture as in obedience to authority. They REALLY shut down and REALLY stayed home. Lol @ blaming their numbers.
Let's say that they actually had ten times as many cases and deaths.
That's what 120k vs 2.2M for is!??!!
By the way, they didn't lie about their numbers because they don't have the mayor from Jaws running things. LOL

Ahhhhhhh. My response got deleted.
Well I am not going to repeat it all. Basically that our numbers of dead are crap and you can never properly shut this country down so it was a complete waste of time and resources. Now when a
really serious virus does hit no one will believe it.

If you look at the countries with the most success in stopping this, the most common denominator I see is general trust that the government and leadership will make the correct decisions.
The Leadership of Iceland and New Zealand enjoy really high approval ratings, and both countries have pretty much eradicated the disease within their own borders. Germany, South Korea, and Japan are other similar situations.
I'm not sure lockdowns are the sure fire way to stop it. While New Zealand implemented a strict lockdown, and South Korea did as well, Japan and Iceland did not. What happened is that leadership in those countries made requests of the population, and the populartion largely complied.
There might be 50 different responses to stopping this in the US, but the one thing we can be sure of is that most residents don't trust the government as far as they can throw them. That makes things like mask wearing and social distancing nearly impossible to enforce.

Mask wearing and social distancing starts with the individual. You have to decide if you want to slow this down and help protect at risk people. It's not all about obeying the government of medical experts. They might know more than you. Don't be a mini trump.

It is laughable to say that bolder part.
The “experts” told us for the first 4 weeks that wearing a mask was unnecessary, harmful, and immoral. They said it didn’t prevent infection, encouraged you to touch your face more (thereby making it more harmful), and immoral because you were taking valuable masks out of the supply base for medical workers.
Then after 4 weeks of hearing that, they did a 180 and told us it was harmful and immoral if we did NOT wear masks.
So you’ll have to forgive those of us who look at the “experts” and “leaders” for what they really are. Clueless.

Just the fact that mask wearing became a political demarcation line is cray cray. Totally ridiculous. Be very happy that there is not an asteroid hurtling towards us because I can see the same ridiculous logic being used. We can't let a ten mile across meteor close us down. LOL

The leadership said so even as countries in East Asia were like WTH when they saw us not wearing masks. I had friends in Korea texting every day in March and April asking "What is HAPPENING over there?!" . After China flattened their curve and sent scientists and doctors to Italy, the first thing they said was "um, you realize this isn't a real shutdown, right? Why is your public transit running? You still have people in the streets!"
The problem here is this all became about politics and money and if a few thousand people die who cares as long as I can keep going to Walmart and the beach. Blaming the "experts" makes no sense unless you blame the self appointed "expert" talking and tweeting over them constantly. The funny part is that if this had all been done correctly the curve would have been flattened and we could be getting back to normalcy by the Fall. Korea and Taiwan are playing professional sports again.
The other thing to consider is how many cases and deaths would we have if nothing had been done at all and everything had just remained open?

South Korean results were better due to their culture of obedience to authority.
That could solve multiple issues.

Let me leave no uncertainty on where I stand. I think both democrats and republicans are equally idiotic. I think ole Donny boy is a clown. I am not a trump supporter.
The very fact that you interpret my assertion that the clueless “experts” and “leaders” I’m referring to somehow omits Donald is exactly why this country is doomed.
In this country, people believe that you are either a trump lover or trump hater. It’s a binary choice for most people. I am neither. I just think that every single “expert” and “leader” on this subject, on both sides of the aisle, dropped the ball on this in a spectacular way.
This whole coronavirus response was a farce, both by the far left and the trump zombies.
We wrecked our economy for nothing. Our country accelerated its path towards insolvency, and people’s lives were ruined over what amounted to nothing more than something similar to the flu. But no one will be held accountable.

The funny part is that if this had all been done correctly the curve would have been flattened and we could be getting back to normalcy by the Fall. Korea and Taiwan are playing professional sports again.
The other thing to consider is how many cases and deaths would we have if nothing had been done at all and everything had just remained open?

It's not similar to the flu...
...and it's not over

Correct. The number of dead will be over 200,000 by the end of the year (and that number is more likely to be an under count than an over count).

The experts told the truth. The people in charge chose to be the Mayor from Jaws.
There is a reason why South Korea with the same information has 12k cases and 280 deaths in a country of 50M

People like this are why this virus is so out of control in the US vs other first world nations. Americans are idiots.

This is a result of our current political and media climate. Both sides complain the other is lying and is trying to destroy America. That works great for the extreme right and left, but for the majority middle, we are fed up with it and don’t believe either. So all we want to do is be left alone and let us live our lives. Until we have term limits and not people in the government for 40 years blaming the new guy for all the problems, this will just get worse.
