Aw, that's just a meaningless statements by the SEC office.
If they REALLY wanted change, they would say Mississippi schools cannot play in SEC events as long as the flag stands.

The anti flag people made this fuss a few years back with the Georgia state flag.

The people of Georgia made a fool out of them.

They were too ignorant to realize that the state replaced the state flag with had the battle flag in it with a very slightly modified version of the Stars and Bars.

Mississippi is wrong

Georgia was wrong to adopt the rebel flag in defiance of Brown v BOE and wrong to change that to the softer but still offensive CSA flag. At least the stars and bars that so excite rednecks that think they know some deep secret was not used to taunt Selma marchers and diner sitters while they beat the **** out of them

It just proves that the uproar was never about it being representative of the Confederacy and that the anti flag people were completely ignorant of the subject. Mississippi has had this flag since 1894. That is 126 years. Long before other groups used the Southern Cross to push hatred.

We do not go around tearing down Buddhist temples because the Nazis used their Solar Cross to create the swastika.
