Eagles assistant football coach resigns

Associated Press

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Mississippi assistant football coach Shelton Gandy has resigned for personal reasons, head coach Jeff Bower said Wednesday.

Bower said the position will be filled in the near future.

"Shelton has been an important part of the Southern Miss football program as a player and as a coach," Bower said. "I appreciate everything he contributed in the time he has been with us and wish him and his family the very best in their future endeavors."

Gandy has been a member of Bower's staff for four years as the running backs coach.
