RE: What if????
If I can’t go to a game but I can watch a game I’ll live. It will suck but be better than what we have now. The lack of sports is awful. The EPL came back today. I had it on at work. It was really nice.

RE: What if????
It's a shame baseball didn't capitalize on the no sports for the last 3 months.

MLB could have done a weekly Home Run Derby show as they did back in 1960 but jazz it up with a pitching machine where fans pick curveballs, sliders, knuckleballs, fastballs, fastballs and sidearm curves pitches remotely.

Won't happen. Without college football college athletics dies since football pays for everyone else (P5 schools for sure). To much money to be lost if there is no football.

I don't think we see fans in the stands in the fall and if we do it will probably be at a severe reduced capacity. I hope they still play with no fans.

I've really been enjoying soccer and golf; haven't really missed the NBA or MLB at all. I would miss college hoops.

Looking at the numbers, I don't believe we will have football, or any other sport, at least through the end of the calendar year.

I think we should all gird our loins for the possibility. Things are not trending well right now.

Kills me to type it out, like I'll somehow breathe it to life.

This season is going to be touch and go. I think limited capacity will actually play to our favor since I’m sure attendance would have been significantly down after the past two seasons. Let those willing to pay for overpriced seats enjoy the game. Myself included in that lot.

This is an example of why there will be no football this season.

What if????
Can someone explain to me why we wouldn't have football? We are talking about a bunch of 18-22 year olds that are extremely fit. They are in an age demographic where the death rate is identical to the flu. Not sure I understand the problem. If you are talking about fans in the stands, that is a different discussion, but there is zero reason that games can't be played.

Any of them hospitalized? I bet a lot of football players got the flu as well. The irrationality around this virus is crazy. It is a danger for some people. College athletes are not among them.

RE: What if????
It did not specify at what point in the incubation period the tests were performed, so it is unknown whether the asymptomatic will develop symptoms or not, and later require hospitalization or not.

Since the disease is highly contagious, those players are being quarantined as stated. If more test positive then there may eventually not be enough players available to field a team.

I am not going to debate whether the reactions to the pandemic are reasonable or not. However, I think it reasonable to assume that if one kid, or staff dies as a result from Covid that is shown to have been contracted from football activities, the reaction will be to shut down football and indeed all close contact sports.

Thankfully, those players (and those at other schools as well) do not need coaching, training, meals, physical therapy, counseling, education, tutoring or family contact. They are a fully-functional, self-contained unit of 18-22 yo that exists in a stasis of non-compromised perfect health solely for the entertainment of mainly old white fans.
