Yea, I specially remember reports about our team being built for 2021, when they were talking about Bobby being on the chopping block. That if he could make due in 2020 then he would be sitting a lot better in 2021 with a better chance to save his job.

Bobby was very vocal about the team being a bowl quality team this coming season. I suspect that was a bunch of hype from a guy desperate to keep his job, but maybe there was some reason behind it.

It wasn’t. I’ve heard the same from the guys who were retained. Those same guys warned me 2022 could be rough. Though Slade certainly could change that.

It depends on position. The offense in 2022 could be pretty decent (if Wolfe is the real deal) as WR/RB/QB could be quite stacked. But, the defense will have lost a lot; particuarly in the front 7.

But, there is time for recruiting to assist in the 2022 season; particularly if this seasons class is decent.

2022 should have Wolfe as a junior and LaLa and maybe Slade as seniors. Plus the incoming class as sophomores and another year of Rhane recruiting. I’m thinking things continue to get better in 2022, but I guess they know better than me.

We were in games with VT, ECU, and UVA (ACC runner up) before the wheels fell off. I think we do better than 3 wins. I’m excited to see how the young guys improved. I’ll just be happy to have football back!

True. But that was also before teams realized we had no passing offense. That will be a big key to changing our fortunes this season. We need Wolfe to be fantastic and some good receivers to catch the ball.

Very true. Hopefully with those starts under his belt, a healthy Kumah, and some of the younger guys getting that experience last year will help.

Exactly. That pretty much says it all.

RE: Are You Ready For Some Football?
You know, we once had a freshman QB who was a little undersized and not highly recruited, but once he got the job he never gave it up. What was his name -- sounded like a beer.

Well, I think we may have another Heinicke in Preferred Walk-on, Reese Poffenbarger.

6' 1" 210 lbs
Threw for 3,046 yds and 45 TDs his senior season
Maryland Offensive Player of the Year
Led team to state championship
First Team All State
247 Sports Three-Star Rating

If you have not watched his Hudl video, take a look. You are going to like what you see. I predict he will be on scholarship before the season is over.

Oh, and if Poffenbarger isn't the name of a beer -- it should be. I can easily imagine coming home after a hard day at work, sitting back, and having a cold Poffenbarger. Give me another Poff!

P.S. As good as he is, he is not the star athlete of his family. Sister Saylor is at UConn on a basketball scholarship.

We got some nice new adds. I think we could be pretty good (relatively speaking) depending on what kind of coach we got. I predict 5 wins with one decent upset.

I sure do hope so. I am surprised he's a PWO, but there are tons of kids out here with similar credentials.

Man, I really could have waited a long time. Renewed almost out of habit as soon as I got the notice.

I am hearing there is a real chance that this FBS football season will be postponed to February.

I think that is far more likely than not at this point.

I'll take February over no football.

Crazy idea... Could the NCAA play games every other week or games every 3 weeks? Gives the players and staff time to get tested and some time for players and staff who were previously ill time to recover before the next game. Start September and run the season until March with games spaced out.

If they played a game every 3 weeks a healthy player that became ill could only have to miss 2 or 3 games (6 to 12 weeks) before they could return maybe.

That actually seems like a decent option.

Night games in February, sounds a little chilly. Guess it's good they are thinking football.
