Wonder what ever happened to Neon, Butch and Ricky??
Ricky Roe got injured and returned home to run the family farm, and Neon and Butch dropped out of college, but both played in the NBA. The university would be suspended from tournament play for three years. Pete did continue to coach, but at the high school level.

I'm very glad that our coaching staff doesn't grandstand and play games with the players like Pete did (especially at the beginning of the movie). I like how they are straight up with the kids and teaching.

WTS, I don't begrudge Zion or his family getting "benefits." He should be able to be paid his worth for his services by a "school" and an organization that made a lot of money from a player of his skill.

Right, I don't care that Zion got money, just like pretty much every recruit does. What bothers me is the extent to which the NCAA came so hard after Wiseman while so many other top recruits got a pass.

Selective enforcement is one of the many ways the NCAA is corrupt in order to keep control. They let certain high profile universities get away with anything as long as they can prevent money and control going to players at the other 90% of colleges under its purview.

And the Condy Rice commission acknowledged they have a reputation problem in this area.
So what does the NCAA do? They form a double-secret-IARP group to remove the appearance of favoritism. It's laughable.
Meanwhile, they do nothing to shed transparency on transfer waiver immediate eligibility - a huge area of perceived favoritism.
And don't give me the tired old line about the NCAA being a group of universities. That's simplistic and dishonest. Enforcement is a bunch of lawyers protecting their turf and golden geese.

The evidence referred to includes an obviously forged license (wrong weight/height, photoshopped digits and the wrong orientation for his age).. so wouldn't expect anything out of this

Wont take years to "resolve" in any relevant way. Evidence is so clearly fraudulent that I wouldnt be surprised if the lawyer filing the motion is sanctioned.

Nothing for the NCAA to pursue and the NBA, 2K, etc. dont care anyway

whatever

the fact that the media is reporting this for all of us to see, that's what really matters...ergo, the "optics"

wanna bet Silver and company, as well as the marketing machine behind 2k and all other NBA stuff, really hate this? I'll bet they do, though it might not mean much to you

NBA fans don't care if a player got extra benefits in college.

And I don't consider fanrunradio "media"

It's comically fraudulent. The "license" attached lists Zion's height as 284 and his weight as 6'06 (yes you read that right).

Other than laughing at the idiocy of these attorneys, I don't think anyone you listed is too worried about this latest legal maneuver.

Didn't hurt OJ Mayo in NBA, or Chris Webber, or Derrick Rose, for that matter. Cam Newton is a big story in the NFL recently, no one mentions the money Auburn paid his dad. Not gonna hurt Zion one bit.

What "optics" are there to hate? Dude is a pro basketball player. Literally no one besides the NCAA would care if he was paid starting in pre-school
