Nice-Hopefully he gets decent money despite current MLB weirdness.

Nice! 1st pick of the 3rd round. The slot value is $857,000 which sounds like it's more than enough.
I think he was also the first CUSA player to be drafted (wait that's not right - FIU had a pitcher taken in the 2nd round as Mike noted on the conference board).

Pretty much where I thought he'd go. I was a little surprised the Astros passed him up several picks earlier.

Congratulations to Trei. He is talented and has put in lots of hard work to get to this point. I wish him the best and hope he can get to the show quickly.

RE: Trei picked by Tigers ... 73rd pick.
D1 Baseball's David Seifert & Kendall Rogers each mentioned Trei in their Day 2 draft review in the "Favorite Team Draft All Rounds" segment:
David Seifert Wrote:Picking at the top of the draft with a large amount of bonus pool cash, the draft classes of Detroit (2nd highest pool) and Miami (5th) really stood out for me. The Tigers picking up college performers in Spencer Torkelson, Dillon Dingler, Daniel Cabrera and Trei Cruz in addition to the high upside of Gage Workman plays right to my sweet spot.
Kendall Rogers Wrote:I went back and forth between the Rockies and Tigers, but sided with the Tigers. Let me give the Rockies some love, though. I love the two prep picks to begin the draft in Zac Veen and catcher Drew Romo. Both are very advanced players for their age. Then, the Rockies went with hard-throwing Miami righty Chris McMahon and rising Clemson lefty Sam Weatherly. Weatherly had gotten a lot of buzz to go much higher than the bottom half of the third round. But the Rockies got him there. They finished the draft by taking one of my absolute favorites in hard-nosed Michigan shortstop Jack Blomgren. Well done. As for the Tigers, it’s like a cornucopia of well-liked college players. It goes without saying Spencer Torkelson is a great pick. Ohio State’s Dillon Dingler is a versatile catcher, LSU outfielder Daniel Cabrera is tooled up like crazy and hits for some serious power, Rice’s Trei Cruz has made some serious improvements to his defense, and he already was a premier hitter with good power production. There’s also Arizona State third baseman Gage Workman, who has an excellent background of production at the collegiate level.
And it looked like Aaron Fitt would have mentioned Trei if David & Kendall hadn't already:
Aaron Fitt Wrote:Detroit is the obvious answer for me, but Kendall and Seif already covered the Tigers’ draft, ...

By the way, Dane Acker did get drafted by the Oakland A's from Oklahoma at number 127 in the fourth round. Dane pitched for the Owls his freshman year and then transferred to San Jacinto Junior College and then to the Sooners.

$900,000 signing bonus, slightly above 3rd round slot.

Astros are set in the infield and need pitchers and outfielders more.
