2028 and 2029...

The Tigers made the announcement Thursday.

The new Mississippi State games are set for 2028 in Memphis and 2029 in Starkville, Miss. The Tigers also have games scheduled against the Bulldogs in 2021 and 2022 with the 2021 game in Memphis. The UofM's last game against Mississippi State was in 2011 and its last win came in 1993 when the Tigers defeated the No. 23 Bulldogs, 45-35, in Starkville.

Memphis opens its first season under coach Ryan Silverfield Sept. 5 against the Red Wolves at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium, the kickoff to a four-game series that will be played annually through 2023. The Tigers will be playing Arkansas State for the first time since 2013 when they defeated ASU, 31-7, at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium. Memphis leads the all-time series, 29-23.

But it's a reasonable drive for us and a decent opponent sometimes.

This one you can't complain about. They are P5 program giving us a home and home. If we can get one more to do that every year, that would fix the whole scheduling nonsense.

They also just announced a basketball series with Alabama...

I have no problem with State. Their school offers some things not available in Memphis and some Memphis kids go there for that instead of UTK. That makes it a good guy!

2028 schedule will feature Arkansas and Mississippi State. I mean, Arkansas shouldn't be 2-10 by the year 2025. I'd imagine Saban, Oregeron, will retire by that year. Also, Texas A&M will get rid of Jimbo if he doesn't perform to A&M standards by that year anyway. The fact that we're playing an SEC team in 7 years this decade is not shabby at all. Only 2020, 2024, and 2027 the years we're not playing an SEC team. Also, no P5 team for the years of 2024 and 2027 (which we're going to be open for a series).

huh? we haven't played State since 2011...in the meantime we've played Duke, Kansas, UCLA, Mizzou, along with Ole Miss 4 times.

I'm glad we worked out 4 games with Miss State as it's an easy trip for the fans

I'm good with the MSU series. But I'd like to see us get an annual schedule of playing 2 P5s (one at home, one away) every season. This has several benefits - it sells tickets better than playing UT-M, GA St, Troy, So Il, UTSA, UL- Monroe, So AL, etc., gets P5 media attention & provided legitimacy for moving up if we can win consistently compared to UCF, UH Cincy & Boise - all of which usually play 2P5s every year.
