NJIT
NJIT is joining the America East starting this season, source told @Stadium. NJIT was previously in the Atlantic Sun.

ASUN Commissioner denies it.
Rumor broke recently that NJIT is going to the America East. The tweet published by Jeff Goodman is inaccurate. More to come! Maybe we can become "trending" on this rumor. That would be cool.

I wonder if it’s really false or if no one told him yet?

Maybe he leak the false rumor out to get more followers and publicity on Twitter. He needs more followers

You posted that if one of the ASUN 7 were to leave it would kill the UAC. Does this potentially do that?

Yes, if it is true that NJIT is leaving.

But the NCAA could change their rules on how a new conference could be changed at any time.

That’s true, there’s always a waiver chance.

UAC aside, they could change the rules just because of the COVID thing. Who knows.

I suspect NJIT is on th move but it may not be exactly as reported. I wouldn't be shocked to see a merger/reshuffle about to go down.

RE: NJIT
I am not happy to see NJIT leave if this is what's happening, but I won't exactly miss them either but only due to geography. As far as I can tell, they presented no problems for the conference and were good members. I'm happy for them to get something more in their neck of the woods. Good luck, wherever you end up! You're been a real trooper hanging in this long even if you didn't have a choice.

RE: NJIT
NJIT has got to be thrilled. I'm sure they've felt like "guests" to a certain degree in the ASUN. It's not what they wanted and were such an outlier geographically. Perfect timing on this move now that money is tightening up due to this virus craziness.

RE: NJIT
If NJIT is indeed leaving this was a move that everyone knew was going to happen someday.

I think this gives the ASUN a chance to refocus efforts toward building a FL-GA-AL footprint.

Well said. I agree that it was inevitable that NJIT would leave someday. This situation is truly an opportunity for both NJIT and the ASUN.

It is now Official

The @AmericaEast is growing! Today, our Board of Presidents elected @njithighlanders as the league’s newest member, effective July 1, 2020. #3Pillars

So what in the world was the ASun commish tweeting about? What part of Jeff Goodman’s tweet wasn’t true? Very strange how that unfolded. I feel like he was truly blindsided.

Good for NJIT. Bad for the ASUN mostly. Good luck in your new conference.

Must have been.... he seemed pretty confident that it was false.

Yeah, something's going down. Gumbart also tweeted that the ASUN was negotiating with 5 other schools. He also said that the UAC was dead, but with the other potential schools things could be happening.
