Couple questions.

1) Why did they not let anyone sit in the north endzone stands?

2) How did we have an attendance of 28k with no one sitting in those north endzone seats but now our official capacity is 24,500?

1) The north endzone seats were deemed unsafe. They did not let people sit in them for quite some time.

I remember the track directly north of the stadium was so beat up and deteriorated. Definitely an eyesore.

I believe the 28K figure included all seating possibilities, including that north endzone. I do know that they packed 'em in for the Maryland game. Everything was filled to capacity including the skybox. That's when we had fans and people who enjoyed going to the games. It was a different time back then. The Maryland game was the most electrifying atmosphere I have ever been a part of. What a great game to showcase NIU on national TV!

That was my very first game freshman year. It was so long ago that i don't even remember the endzone grandstand. I just remember how into the game everyone was and the loud atmosphere.

I hope everyone watching saw me on TV. I was sitting on the west side in the chairback seats and was wearing a red Huskie T-shirt.

....and if that was you eating the last hot dog I saw you!

The Maryland game was so special and will obviously go down as one of our greatest victories ever. We shocked the nation, including ESPN when they reported the score of the game. I remember the next day, NIU and Coach Novak were flooded with calls and e-mails from around the world. It was such an exciting and exhilarating experience. Needless to say, I did not sleep a minute that night and yet was as high as a kite the next day.

Official attendance was 28,018, one of the highest in HS history. Hard to figure actual capacity since they kept opening and closing bleachers. By the way, I SAW you with the red t-shirt, hot dog in one hand and ??? in the other. How did you get that hot dog?

Yes, fellas, that was me with the hot dog(s). I did have a hot dog in one hand and a foot-long in the other that I was able to stuff in my pocket and sneak into the game. Because of nerves, I was hungry and ate a lot that game. Midway through the first quarter, I ended up buying a sack of hot dogs (which did clean them out) and had my sack sitting on my lap. But, there were some girls sitting by me who saw me chomping on those tube steaks and really wanted a weenie, so I let them reach into my sack for a treat. Needless to say, my sack was soon emptied. That's how good the weenies are at Huskie Stadium and why fans clamor for them.

Anybody finding good items to bid on? Auction closing soon. I wonder if some are waiting to the last minute to sneak in a last bid.

Also wondering if anybody here got anything from the wine pull and whether it was wine or something else.

I was bidding with I think 2 others in the last 30 seconds For BYU sideline. That was fun....but not worth $500 for something that might not even happen.

I had lots of fun bidding high on items that I knew I would be outbid on. I did this on purpose just to jack the price up. I started sweating on one item, but luckily I was outbid at the end.

A week ago, I bought an item on buy now.

There was so much frantic bidding with lots of individual bids on many items. If all these people bought season tickets and attended the games, we’d have no problem with attendance. Maybe they should sell season tickets via auction!

Terrific closing video for the VEB. Hope at some point we'll know how much was raised, as a gesture to the bidders, donors, etc., who want to see Huskie athletics and student-athletes be successful.

In future, they could have the (post-Covid-19) this type of event AND the revive formal dinner (as an option for some), but I would put priority on this as it gives more people a chance to remotely get involved.

Sounds like more people enjoyed this event this year.

If we are making recommendations have it earlier in year. I realize this year was unavoidable

During this covid season I'm stuck in house for work so when work is done last thing I want is to stay in house and be on computer. It is summer so I gotta get out.

If you missed out on an item I would suggest emailing the event organizer if their contact information is posted somewhere. I emailed a few years back bc I missed out on some jerseys I wanted and they sold them to me. Aside from getting the jerseys it made me feel good I contributed to the fundraiser and essentially provided a small donation to the school.

The auction organizer has done other charity auctions, as I have seen many of the non-Huskie items in other charity auctions. I participated in an auction for Special Olympics and bought one of the items that was in the NIU auction. There are several of some of the items.

For the Huskie items, if the item you are interested in hasn't sold out , contact Andrew Joannides.

I believe this was university-wide. The Victor E. Bash brought in $156K, which exceeded their goal of $150K. So, everyone is happy.
