The other semi-final, North Carolina vs UNLV, was a great one too.

THE 1950 SNOW BOWL: MICHIGAN @ OHIO STATE

The Snow Bowl was played on November 25, 1950 between the teams of the University of Michigan and The Ohio State University. The Michigan Wolverines defeated the Ohio State Buckeyes, 9–3, earning the Big Ten Conference championship and a berth in the 1951 Rose Bowl. The game was one of the most noted in the storied history of the Michigan–Ohio State football rivalry.

If we're talking baseball, Game 6 of the 2011 World Series is hard to beat.

"Montreal Canadiens VS. Soviet's Red Army: Best Hockey Game Ever Played"

December 31st, 1975. Canadiens VS. Red Army, considered by many to be the greatest hockey game ever played.

That was one of the greatest NHL hockey teams of all time! Les Habitantes had these players on that team:

Yvan Cournoyer (RW)
Frank Mahovolich (LW)
Pete Mahovolich ©
Jacques Lemaire ©
Guy Lapointe (D)
Henri Richard ©
Guy Lafleur (RW)

1982 Freezer Bowl, Bengals vs Chargers. The Bengals o-line didn't wear long sleaves, which kind of freaked the Chargers players out, since it was 9 below with a wind chill of minus 59. And back then Quarterbacks didn't wear gloves. Kenny Anderson finished the game with frostbite in his right ear.

1998 WCF, France 3, Brazil 0 (That's when we were living in Australia, so the world cup games were in the middle of the night)

1997 National Rugby League Grand Final, Newcastle Knights vs Manly Sea Eagles. I know y'all don't get to see much Rugby League, but if you've ever seen Rugby, it's the much more exciting version of the game, and with a last minute come behind win by the underdogs, that game had everything.

It's painful to put the 2012 MAC CCG with the Flashes losing, but it was a good game anyway.

It's tempting to put the Buckeyes winning the innaugural CPF Championship against Oregon, but I think the 2015 CFP Semi-Final in the Sugar Bowl against Bama was the better game.

College basketball
Houston 71 UCLA 69 1968 in the Astrodome. Hayes vs. Alcindor
Houston 94 Louisville 81 1983 NCAA semi-final Not real close, but great basketball and athletic skills
and one I didn't see (pre-ESPN era) but read about and followed the score on the ticker-also falls into shocker category as IU had won by 30 early in the season and was unbeaten:
Kentucky 92 Indiana 90 1975 MidEast regional final
Great game in semis in 1975
UCLA 75 Louisville 74

Villanova 66 Georgetown 64 1985 NCAA final Villanova had to play an almost perfect game to win

I watched that game and do remember that at the time the ending was very controversial, with many arguing that Marquette got a break at the end. It was a big point of discussion, largely forgotten today.

This was very hard to do. But it was enjoyable. There are so many great games, so I am listing the five best that I saw on TV and the five best I saw live:
TV:
1. "The Catch" Cowboys vs. 49ers 1981 NFC Championship.
2. Carlton Fisk, 1975 World Series Game 6, Reds at Red Sox.
3. Bill Buckner 1986 World Series Game 6 "Between the Legs."
4. Greatest Game Ever, Game 5 1976 NBA Finals, Suns at Celtics.
5. Sea of Hands Game, Dolphins at Raiders, 1974 AFC Playoffs.
Live:
1. Catfish is Perfect, Twins at A's, MLB, 1968.
2. Clark crushes the Dodgers dreams, Cardinals at Dodgers Game 6, NLCS, 1985.
3. McHale clotheslines Rambis, Game 4, NBA Finals, 1984.
4. Rich Gannon MVP, Titans at Raiders, AFC Championship, 2003.
5. MJD, Cal at UCLA, 2005, college football.

There are hundreds of games that could be added. The Cal at UCLA game was special because of MJD, who scored five touchdowns in that game, three rushing, one on a 28 yard TD reception, and another on an 81 yard punt return. He also had a 69 yard punt return that he returned to the four yard line, setting up another score. UCLA was down 14-0, 27-14 and 37-28, and ended up winning 47-40. Desean Jackson, Marshawn Lynch and Justin Forsett had great games for Cal, in front of 84,000 at the Rose Bowl.

2009 Cincinnati VS PITT for the Big east championship. At one time during the first half PITT was up 31-10. Dion Lewis rushed for 197 yards on 47 carries. Cincinnati came back to win on 30 yard TD pass with 30 seconds to go. The last game of Brian Kelly's tenure at UC.

This is the 30th anniversary of what I consider to be the greatest college football game ever played. Held on Thanksgiving Day, 1971, Nebraska beat Oklahoma, 35-31.

Great game. Back when I was a UN fan over UO. There wasn't that many games back then on TV.

Love the announcer on that play:

"Holy Moly, man, woman, and child, did that put 'em in the aisles! Johnny 'The Jet' Rodgers just tore 'em loose from their shoes!"

There was a hell of a block on the 32 yard line against the only guy (perhaps the punter) who had a chance to catch him...
