I love this topic,gotta be odu beating va tech in football 2018 number 1,odu beating Villanova in ncaa tourney number 2,number 3 winning bowl game,4 would be odu beating Connecticut in womens basketball,5 beating number 1 DePaul in basketball,I want to say in 1980 and bonus odu almost beating Russia in womens basketball,who at the time no one had come close to them in 20 years.this happened when lieberman and donovan were playing.i know you guys are going to remind me of some other great games.there are plenty.please share love to relive some memories.

Best 5 games can have multiple meanings: Most surprising; most dramatic comeback; the ones that generated most national attention, etc. Also, I would think that you'd have to include the games in which ODU won a national championship: Men's basketball D-2 in 1975; the three women's basketball national championships; and the several women's field hockey national championships.

That is true,but I'm looking for personal games for yourself and it is your criteria to judge the best odu games.winning the championships were awesome,but dude,odu 49,va tech 35

1. Vcu in OT in the caa championship game
2. Villanova in the ncaa tourney
3. Notre Dame in the ncaa tourney
4. Va tech in football
5. Beating vcu again in the caa tourney

Hard to describe to anyone who wasn’t there what the atmosphere was like in a sold out big brown dump when Odu and vcu played with the season potentially on the line and the electricity turned up to 11. Yes, it did indeed go to 11.

In no particular order: Beating Georgia for the NCAA women's basketball title, beating No. 1 DePaul, beating VT football, beating 'Nova in 3OT in the NCAAs, beating Notre Dame in the NCAAs.

Worst loss: Butler in the NCAAs, The Kent Culuko Game, Liberty giving us a come to Jesus meeting in their first FBS game.

Don't remember the date and I am not a soccer fan. We scored the tying goal vs. VCU with less than 10 seconds to go and got the winner very early in OT. To see those VCU players lying frustrated and disappointed on the field made sitting through a soccer game memorable..

I don't disagree, it clearly meets my first three criteria (surprising, comeback, national attention).

In no particular order...

* Beating No. 1 DePaul
* Win over VCU in CAA Championship
* 3OT win over 'Nova
* Football over VT
* Women's basketball over Stanford at FH in tourney

Honorable Mention:

* Women's basketball over UVA at the Ted
* Men's basketball over UVA at Scope (Petey game)
* Wins at GTown
* Win at 'Cuse (this one was personal between me and a friend lol)
* 3OT win over Charlotte (Loughten game)
* Win over UAB at Scope, when Bartow went into the stands

Some good ones here, I'll add when ODU Women BB played the the #1 Russian National Team and their 7-2 center in a sold out game at Scope. The sellout crowd of 10,237 was the largest gathering ever to watch a single women's game. Was a tough ticket.

I was at the win over New Orleans. I don't care what division it is, winning a national championship is amazing. I'll never forget that game and the celebration afterwards.

It's a little tough to trim it to five right now, but this is my personal #1.

I'm still not sure I've ever heard the Ted louder than that game, especially when Walters drained the 3 for the win.

I could not talk for two days after this game. It was so great.

Here are my Top Five:

5: 2000 Field Hockey National Championship Game at Forman Field. It was freezing cold, snowing/sleet/freezing rain. UNC came out in sleeves and was bothered by the weather. Our girls came out in their regular kits and dominated the game 3-1.

4: 2008 Women's NCAA Second Round: Jazz Walter ripping the heart out of all the Zima State fans at The Ted.

3: 1999 Lady Monarchs vs. UConn: I still don't know how the girls pulled that off. It was wicked hot in the Fieldhouse. It was always wicked hot in the Fieldhouse. Rushing the floor was fun.

2: 2012 Monarchs vs. uva: The Monarchs were 1-10 going into this game at The Brown Dump. Seriously nobody in blue and silver thought we had a chance. But Blaine actually coached this game and Dimitri Batten went nuts and dropped 23 on The Great Satan. Watching all that tacky orange slink out of the Coliseum like rats was a glorious sight.

1: 2018 Monarchs vs. Virginia Tech: Another case of who really thought we had a chance to win this game. The score was tied at the half and the group I sit with was like "Huh. This was unexpected." Then the end of the 3rd quarter and we were still in the game and you think "Maybe." When Duhart scored with 5:11 to play my buddy and I were in hysterics. He starts doing math saying Tech didn't have enough time. Then Cox TD and it was a near mosh pit in my row.
