RE: Hero Sports CAA Preview
Been to several away games at Villanovs. Place is a bit of a dump but they do have some reasonable concessions when compared to other CAA away venues.

This is one thing no one ever bothers to point out when discussing Villanova. Their offense has improved with Daniel Smith behind center but their defense is also going south and quick. Almost at a faster rate than the offense is improving, I'd say.

2016 (Andy Talley's last season)
Total D - 1st, 259.8 ypg. 25 TDs allowed.
Scoring D - 1st, 15 ppg.

2017
Total D - 33rd, 334.5 ypg. 19 TDs allowed.
Scoring D - 9th, 16.1 ppg.

2018
Total D - 16th, 312.6 ypg. 32 TDs allowed.
Scoring D - 31st, 23.4 ppg.

2019
Total D - 67th, 388.2 ypg. 44 TDs allowed.
Scoring D - 45th, 26.1 ppg.

They're consistently getting worse on the defensive side of the ball under Mark Ferrante each season.

Just a heads up, I've been to every CAA football stadium from Villanova and on south all the way to Elon. Of those more southern schools, it was without question the worst atmosphere.

It makes Richmond fans look like Alabama somehow. Their fans genuinely do not care.

Definitely driving up for the Nova game. We plan on making the UNC, Towson and Richmond games too. Albany is still a maybe.

Nova historically had great defenses. Losing coach Trisciani to Elon hurt them big time on the defensive side.

Not caa related, but Sacramento states returning qb, who was a big reason for their rise and success last year, just entered the transfer portal with the intention of going to an fbs school.

This has happened more this offseason than I recall in prior years,,,,the fcs to fbs move.

Sure hope this doesn’t bite us in the ass in the future at some point. I think we are as immune as any because of our year to year success and most players loving jmu as a school. But it does appear to be becoming a trend around fcs.

I think kids saw how the lack of pro days hurt the FCS this year and are trying to get their name out as best they can.
