You are back in DeKalb? Or were just there randomly?

I live in Sycamore, but I like to run on campus. It's especially nice right now since it has a "I am Legend" feel to it.
That makes more sense.

Tom & Jerrys by John Street (The ham & cheese on a pita was great)
Rositas Mexican on Lincoln Hwy (The enchilda stack was great)
Sgt Peppers (great nuggets)
Dots Place (small breakfast place on Lincoln Hwy)
Sams Pizza (used to be next to the Jungle and moved a couple of times, great stuff crust pizza)

Any of those still there?

There is a Sam's Pizza in Sycamore. Not sure if it is the same place.

Big Man—-my son graduated from NIU last year—-one of the times we were there, we went golfing out there and went to Sam’s after. I asked that specific question and there is no link or connection between the Sam’s of NIU days (early/mid 80s) and the place in Sycamore (if you are talking about the one pretty close to the golf course)

RE: DeKalb
We only went a few times there to eat (used to get delivery), but Pagliai's had the AYCE Pizza for like $5. It was BYOB. I had to explain to 4 roommates it was better to get 2 extra larges that were 2/1 as it was slightly cheaper and we had leftovers.

Oddly enough, about 3 yrs ago I went to the IHSA Track Championships and they had one in Charleston. To my surprise, I found out it was a chain in the Midwest at college towns. They also claimed the name wasn't PAG-LEE-EYES. The waitress said something else, just not that. Pizza was good.

Yes, it's a tiny place right by the park district course. We will get takeout from there from time to time.

Another well-known eatery from the 70s was the Skonsen (sp?) Smorgasbord on 38 near campus, a forerunner to all the buffets we see now (well, at least pre-Covid).
