City officials are still putting together a complete tally of the destruction and cautioned that estimates are likely to rise significantly. Gov. Tim Walz and members of Minnesota’s congressional delegation are trying to get government assistance to offset that cost. But in the past, neither the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) nor Congress has consistently sent federal funding to cities ravaged by riots.

Yeah, that’s not what FEMA is for, as evidenced by the fact that Maryland was denied such assistance by the Obama administration in 2015 after the Baltimore riots. These politicians sat idly by and let their cities be destroyed. They need to be the ones to pay for it. These people had ample opporutnity, including usage of the National Guard, to stop the rioting, burning of buildings, and looting. They instead chose to appease the mob for purely political reasons. That’s on them.

Walz said Tuesday that he is pushing for funding to rebuild damaged communities. His administration has been talking to U.S. Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith, as well as U.S. Reps. Ilhan Omar and Betty McCollum, who represent the Twin Cities. Walz said they have had conversations about seeking federal assistance to rebuild communities and “we have expressed some of our desires to explore what we can do there.”

Good luck with that. If they are really looking for help, talking to Ilhan Omar isn’t the way to get it. The White House is never going to sign off on such a push. This is also the same Minneapolis that’s currently pledging to disband their police force. Putting money into such a city seems like a rather bad investment for the American taxpayers.

Look, had they done their best to stop this, it’d be one thing. You can’t blame a city for getting overwhelmed. But that didn’t happen here. Frey refused help, didn’t call in the National Guard for days, and pampered the rioters rhetorically. He’s responsible for this and he has to pay the price for it. Regular Americans who don’t support this kind of nonsense shouldn’t be forced to foot the bill for his incompetence.

Trump should laugh, loudly, at him and then go personally hand checks to small business owners that were impacted. The big chains have terrorism insurance that will cover them. The state can pay to rebuild the public property.

He should ask his new friends to pay for it...oops that lasted until they caste him out.

But seriously, they will rebuild Minneapolis, gentrify it, and silently move their troubles out to the suburbs like other Blue cities have done. There may be a seamy section of downtown left but the core will be elite corporate dwellings and that area I guarandamntee you will be policed, only by private guards and technology. The middle class will have to deal with the migrating mob. It's what liberals do. They talk up the mob, but safely distance themselves from it in hopes that the middle class will provide them a safer target to hit than the swanky gated and guarded liberal communities.
