Oklahoma State LB Tested Positive

If more college football players started to test positive? We may not have a season.

There will also be Harvey Updyke’s who try to give coronavirus to rival players.

Conference leaders have already said they expect cases. It’s not going to move the needle until people require hospitalization, ICU admission or death- which is very rare for this age demographic.

And Marshall has two players and one staffer who tested positive and they began workouts on Monday.

Iowa State has a positive student worker and have four players in quarantine awaiting test results.

LBs=over weight =death from COVID-19

The players on the line on both offense and defense are the ones who could die from this unless others had cancer, diabetes and the likes.

RE: Oklahoma State LB Says He Tested Positive For Coronavirus
As per Daily Oklahoman article, Oklahoma State brought in players early anticipating positive tests of the virus for some players.

The early reporting date sets up the situation where a player testing positive will do 14 days of quarantine but still have time enough for extensive football practice to get ready for the season opener.

Each player will be tested each day before practice and this is probably the SOP at all schools. Any player testing positive must quarantine for 14 days.

Its not the end of football season by having players test positive. It is a situation that faces all segments of our society. And it is a situation that probably will not go away for some time to come.

Indeed, since you cannot be infectious if you are not spreading a viral load, as long as the tests are sound, football players may be among the limited number of groups in Oklahoma who get tested frequently enough and when positive practice social isolation diligently enough to keep the rate of transmission within the group very low.

But they need those expensive immediate result systems for it to really work ... it's one thing bringing them into a quarantined camp, it's another to maintain it when they get to campus.

Of course, from the Italian experience, there'll be a fair few in serious or critical condition over time ... a bigger factor in the lower mortality than dramatically lower rates of serious or critical cases is the dramatically higher share of serious and critical cases where the younger patient survives.

They will still be carriers after the 14 days which they could still be spreading. They still have another week before they feel the full effects.

WTF? The point of testing is so you know the result before they start practicing.

College sports are much more problematic than the pros. So many more kids to keep track of. If Alabama, with all their extra staff have this problem, then it's hard to see anyone able to pull this off.

Professional leagues can actually create and enforce an actual medical protocol.

As Monday's SI.com long-form indicated, even members of the same conference fail to agree on anything small less something as large as COVID-19.

Note that the coaches could not be at these "player-led" workouts. NCAA bylaws even prevent them from giving a football to use during said workouts.
