Without waivers we got, what? 1 JUCO and 1 walk on coming in?

Lead recruiter says buh bye.

Concerning at this point.

Still better than where we were with Tubby and Josh. Team still has a roster loaded with 4 stars. How many did we have before Penny was hired? He is still able to get the top recruits, not his fault the college landscape has now changed with the GL recruiting his guys. Assistants come n go all the time, time to bring in new blood.

Josh ? Josh ?....um is that the guy that took us to our last 2 tournaments ? Is that the guy ? If that is whom you speak of ---correct me if i'm wrong --but I don't believe we have been back since !!

Actually, it was our last 4 tournaments before he took us into a downward spiral.

I don't know how I hit 2----but yea 4----did he also get criticized for having to rely on transfers after missing on some recruits or am I dreaming----not stirring just asking---I really can't remember.

I don’t remember either. He was offered an awesome job and $$$$ from a lazy AD and took it. He wasn’t ready, but why turn that down? Water under the bridge and I wish him the best. He gave his all.

RE: Mike Miller: Boom Out of Here
Mike stepping down right now may really turn into a nonfactor, as the Coronavirus is gonna make it a weird year for basketball and football (assuming we even have one). Short of teams playing in virtually empty arenas, I'm not certain we'll even play basketball.

Football is slightly doable due to the open air environment for most teams, but even then, how many people in the older demographic will risk attending games?

We went from the hardest worker in CBB----one that couldn't sleep or eat and got physically ill after a loss-------to the laziest coach in CBB--that told us to basically get used to losing----that told us the old MEMPHIS was gone. Heck after his tenure coupled with the last two years he may have been right,,,.....but I think Penny turns it around----signing Cisse would be a giant step in righting the ship----and stops the march madness drought this year.

Tubby wasn’t right and should have know that schtick wouldn’t fly here. His ‘tenure’ affected the past two years. Penny is trying to turn things around. I thank him for that.

Penny is trying to turn this thing around? Yes. But losing Mike as his wingman basically hurts way more than what people typically think. Don't think we're getting Cisse either.

Regardless, this team plays 4 SEC teams. All 4 are away from FedEx Forum (a stat that Penny is under .500 at). Lets face it, there are going to be more Tennessee fans in the game in Nashville than Memphis fans. Same goes for the game against Atlanta when we play a good Auburn team. Ole Miss is getting better. Georgia, a team we lost to last year, now welcomes us in Athens. If we go 1-3 against those teams, you can forget about the NCAA tournament. Simply because the AAC will not be as good in 20-21 as they were in 19-20.

Matthews/Miss St-----Moore/Auburn---Murrell/OLE PISS----Cisse/?----If we lose Cisse--that is 4 good/great area players that basically told MEMPHIS thanks but no thanks-- but we are not waiting for MEMPHIS to decide if we are worthy of your courtship. If MEMPHIS would have shown more interest, then I think Moore/Murrell at the very least are TIGERS. If we don't get Cisse then the top 4? in the area, MEMPHIS gets NONE. Its already been said that the top player in the area next year will not be a TIGER (Chandler)---what is goin on. I look forward to seeing the "LINCOLN COUNTY REDDEVIL" Rand next year---but if our other 2 transfers don't get the transfer waivers---then I doubt either one ever plays for the TIGERS---and if they dont get granted---we have one...one recruit.....and if we start signing lesser talented players, just for fillers...because thats all that is left out there..SIGH If we don't get Cisse---I am afraid the wheels have fallen off. Maybe our 2 transfers get granted---but if they don't ...and we don't get Cisse---we are in trouble.

I don’t see how this helps the program now...

Is our 2020 Rivals Recruiting class ranking still #83? Which actually is tied for last with 18 other teams in the rankings so it could be as bad as 100?

I love Penny, but this has got to be a blow....
All we heard about was how strong M Miller was in recruiting...
There were a lot of strike outs on big names this year and that must hurt the ego....

I hope he does well and maintains close ties...

Yep. The injuries got him pushed out. He could have taken us where he has taken Georgia Tech. Cellar dweller.

Nah, I don’t think anyone realistically expected him to stick around much longer than this. I suspect had we landed Jalen Green he would have wanted to coach him a year. But we didn’t and the upcoming season is up in the air. He’s a millionaire and has other interests to pursue. Godspeed.

that's the way I see it. Take a year off and who knows what great opportunities may arise.

Asst Coaches come and go quickly.
Penny is Memphis for life (has been and will be).
Mike Miller is a good guy who's a gym rat. He stayed as long as he wanted to. And that's also what we want.
We recruit players who are young, dumb and fickle. It's their right. I support them.
All of this seems part of the cycle.
No reason I can see for anyone who is a Tiger fan to lose sleep or stop buying tickets and/or donate to Academics or Athletics.

I look forward to seeing the "LINCOLN COUNTY REDDEVIL" Rand next year---but if our other 2 transfers don't get the transfer wavers---then I doubt either one ever plays for the TIGERS---and if they dont get granted---we have one...one recruit.....and if we start signing lesser talented players, just for fillers...because thats all that is left out there..SIGH If we don't get Cisse---I am afraid the wheels have fallen off. Maybe our 2 transfers get granted---but if they don't ...and we don't get Cisse---we are in trouble.

If we go 1-3 against those 4 teams we don't deserve to go to the tourney.

UGA will not be a tourney team
Ole Miss will not be a tourney team
UT is up in the air...I will give them a bubble team

Only team that looks good in the pre-Season is auburn.
