A waste of Tax Payor Dollars ....Why should Georgia Residents justify subsidizing the education of North Carolina Residents ..???

That's only happening if GSU is losing money on those students. If they are turning a profit then it helps support the school.. Lots of schools near other states do it. I know sever LA and AL schools offer in-state tuition to MS residents.

University education is first and foremost a business. States are competing for an ever-dwindling group of customers students willing to shell out the money to get a degree. If giving out-of-state students in-state tuition attracts some North Carolinians to Georgia, then those students are throwing their student loans into Georgia's economy rather than North Carolina's. The return on investment is there. Taxpayers will be subsidizing public universities regardless of how many students there are out-of-state.

Exactly. For several decades, the state of Kentucky and the state of Tennessee have enjoyed a reciprocity agreement that permits Ky kids to go to MT and TN kids to go to Western as in-state students. Maybe, that is another reason why MT is the 2nd largest University in TN,

Savannah seems like one of those towns where attending college is a really, really, really bad idea.

If I managed to party my way into an academic suspension* at Charlotte, I can't imagine how badly I'd have messed up in a place like Savannah.

*Looking back, that turned out to be one of the best things that ever happened to me.

All signs are pointing to Akron dropping down to FCS.

An interesting, but brutal data exercise.

Among C-USA schools, he predicts only Rice & UAB to "Thrive" ... while ODU rates "Perish."

(But six C-USA schools are not even included in his dataset: Marshall, Middle Tennessee, USM, UTEP, UTSA & WKU.)

FAU thrives and FIU survives. I wonder what made the difference. Maybe higher endowment per student...
