RE: CUSA Changes
There is nothing big time about giving a team with a 250+ net rating a shot at representing the conference in March.

RE: CUSA Changes
I copped this from a sports journalism board I read. Another spin off from coronavirus. There are a lot of marginal business models that are under stress and may fold. I had not thought some of these implications through, and certainly some of the C-USA Bowls are marginal creatures of ESPN.

"I cover a second-tier bowl in our market. Bowl director told me everyone is at a standstill because no one knows what kind of season it will be. He can't sell any sponsorships, luxury boxes or premium seats and has no idea how many tickets he's going to be allowed to sell. He said March and April are the busy selling months for all of that and it's lost. Also, ESPN won't let the bowls it televises set a date yet.

One theory he has is that the bottom 15 bowls or so will not be played this year. This might be a blessing in disguise. The Bahamas and the Quick Lane Bowls and their like may disappear forever."

Just as ironclad as Rule 34, if a bowl can exist ESPN will create it

Just saying I want UAB in a big time conference. If you think small time and act small time then what are you?

A mouse can think it is a lion but reality says otherwise. Same for CUSA, it can try to think it is a big time conference but reality says CUSA is a small time conference. If you suck or just average during the regular season you should not have the chance at postseason play.

RE: CUSA Changes
With the exception of the two "play in" games for the FBNC game, all other bowls are just differing degrees of irrelevant.
Bowls were originally set up to allow teams that could not play each other in the regular season to meet during the holidays in warm climate locations with time to travel by train without missing class time and had nothing to do with a FBNC. These other "minor bowls" that get criticized so much these days are the ones that still provide this original objective.
I don't think there would be much support for a three game bowl season for only the four "relevant teams".

RE: CUSA Changes
Other changes:
FOOTBALL: Bands prohibited from traveling to road conference games. I'm not sure how this saves C-USA any money. I didn't realize C-USA sponsored band competition.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Saturday and Sunday games must between Noon and 2pm local time, if the visiting team can depart that evening.

MENS'S & WOMEN'S SOCCER: Weekend games must start by 2pm local time.

MEN'S SOCCER: Post-Season Tournament eliminated. Regular Season champion awarded NCAA Tournament Auto-Bid.

WOMEN'S SOCCER: Post-Season Tournament reduced to 8 teams. Regular Season confernce schedule reduced from 10 to 6 matches

CROSS COUNTRY, INDOOR TRACK, OUTDOOR TRACK: Roster sizes reduced.

BEACH VOLLEYBALL: Added as a C-USA Sponsored Sport.

VOLLEYBALL: Post-Season Tournament reduced to 4 teams. Regular season conference schedule reduced from 15 to 14 matches.

You'd think that this wouldn't apply within a certain distance. How much would it cost to bus the band to So Miss and back?
