Even as an Alabama fan, I can recognize he was one of the greats.

And always heard good things about him personally.

Heartbroken. Such a nice man. End of an era.

When I heard about it I wept.

RE: Pat Dye passes away
The local sports radio show here in Huntsville, AL has some great programming and Pat Dye was a regular as well as Gene Stallings, Jerry Glanville, and others. I always enjoyed Dye's interviews. That man was a football computer. He could recall stats and college football history for a lot of players and schools. Seemed to be a really nice guy and I will greatly miss his conversations. One of the old school guys.

What a great man. Head coach at ECU from '77-'79 (48-18-1).

The Sports Objective is an ECU centric podcast that does a nice job on local sports but also really good interviews from a broad perspective. They recently did a podcast with Pay Dye Jr. and Auburn AHC Rodney Garner.
