Last time I checked, our message board wasn't run by the government. Therefore the 1st amendment does not apply in this case.
It's the same reason an establishment can kick you out for saying something offensive and not be in trouble for doing so.
With respect to this message board, it's the moderators call, not the government. Therefore they can delete ANYTHING they want. Or they choose not to delete anything they want. Either way, they are not violating any "freedom of speech".
Come on, folks. You are smarter than this.
I knew that someone would use that as an excuse to censor. Mark Zuckerberg has been leaning on that argument. "Hey, Fascistbook is a private company. We are allowed to censor anything we want."
President Trump recently signed an executive order to address that, which has to do with Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act (GMAFB). I am very aware of this because I am an internet publisher and Big Tech has wrecked businesses like mine via its censorship, leaning on Section 230.
Our Constitution indeed says that the government will make no laws "abridging the freedom of speech." Yet, they have. Section 230 permits Facebook, Twitter, and Google to censor. Therefore, the government is complicit and in violation of the First Amendment.
Face it, these are very trying times. COVID, cities burnt and looted, chaos everywhere. These things affect us and they affect JMU sports, which we are all here to discuss.
The title of this thread is "Are you buying 2020 football season tickets?" I guess respondents can reply with simply a yes or no, without elaborating so as to not piss you off. My advice is when you see that bolded title on your Dukes Domain page, indicating that there are new posts there, use your mousey thing to steer your cursor away from it, thereby reducing the stress in your life and making you a much happier person.
