Maybe they do love Memphis. I love Hawaii, but...

I'm sure they do--what's not to love ? ....but I have never heard a coach say at his introductory presser----that they are only here at said school---to use it as a stepping stone to another school. That's all i'm sayin.

Lol, I haven’t either but who here said one had?

I was responding to post 23-----and I hope Silverfield is our coach for life---that will mean that he has won big.

Silverfield is going to be the coach until Ryan Silverfield coached himself out of Memphis. Meaning, if he does good, then he'll receive a million dollar plus pay raise from a different institution.
If Memphis goes 7-5/8-4 annually in the Ryan Silverfield era, then you best believe he will not be our coach by the 2026 season.
It may have been Silverfield's "dream job" to be a head football coach, but certainly not at Memphis.

To understand "Medical Practices" once you start one, if you leave markets you have to sell it and start over. Doctors do not do this, they find "their" market and establish their lifetime in that market. The average doctor practice takes 7 to 8 years to break even then by year ten is when they average about $ 250K to $ 300K based on the size and whether they have a nurpse practioner.

This is far more than Larry or any other coach. There is a practical reason. Hope I captured it correctly for you to understand, if not let me know.

Larry ? The condescending tone notwithstanding ----I stand by the statement.. ---they all say the same thing...and please tell us more about all the money you give to the university...I bet you even go to the closet to pray.....no grandstanding with you....I bet you can't even say "LOOK AT ME--LOOK AT ME"----no condescending jerk could.

Gene Bartow, Tic Price, Cal, and Tubby didn't say it. Rip, Tommy West, Fuente, and for sure Norvell didn't say it. Almost no coaches say it. Larry, Porter, Pastner and Silverfield have. Penny hasn't even said it.

Do the words "MEMPHIS IS WHERE I WANT TO BE"--come to memory. Norvell repeated many many times how much he loved MEMPHIS.----Most every coach during their presser-- introducing them as new coach say the same things. I dont think I have ever heard a coach say-- "I am here for 3/4 years and then I am getting the hell out of here"-----OK you win--maybe not all ---but most---so I guess you could be right. As for Penny--I think he is in MEMPHIS for life.

You are moving the goalposts. That isn't even close to the same as saying that they want to be here for life.

Quote:"I am here for 3/4 years and then I am getting the hell out of here"

That is understood by everyone when they aren't a blueblood in either sport. That is specifically why no coaches say that they want to stay for life.
