FYI: NCAA extends dead period
The NCAA has decided to extend the recruiting dead period even further.
On Wednesday, the NCAA Division I Council Coordination Committee decided that an extension to the recruiting dead period was the best decision as the country continues to battle the coronavirus pandemic. A halt has been placed on recruiting since late March, when sports took a back seat to the public health crisis.
A statement was released on Wednesday. The dead period will now extend through July 31.
“The Division I Council Coordination Committee extended the recruiting dead period for all sports through July 31,” the statement read. “The committee will regularly evaluate the dead period, continuing to be guided by medical experts. The committee also determined that starting June 1 strength and conditioning coaches may virtually observe voluntary physical workouts for health and safety purposes, but only if requested by the student-athlete.”
Recruits are unable to take official or unofficial visits to campuses during the dead period. They are also not permitted to meet face-to-face with coaches or staff members during this time.
However, coaches and staff members can speak with recruits virtually, via text or phone call or on social media.

At the very least this should give us some insight to the value of an NIU education. Based on the "new" rules we had a number of graduates transfer to other football programs without having to step foot on the campus that they are going to or ever (in most cases) meeting the coach(es), in person, that they will be playing for.

I really commend the leadership of the last four or five years that allows these guys to make life decisions with information so differently than the past. I'm sure they will all do well.
