I think the schedule always pointed to it being ready during the season not at the beginning. Maybe with good weather, overtime, etc they can make up the two months.

Timeline looks right to me. The schedule is what is finalized And agreed to at the time of bid. Not before the project is approved. I’m working on a project now that has been in design for two years. I just developed a master schedule that looks nothing like the original One and when mine goes to bid in October we will agree to what the construction schedule is going to be. Hopefully it’s close to mine. But it won’t look anything like the One developed two years ago.

Each WBS and then construction activity Has a certain number of days and if something is a 14 day duration you can’t magically make it 7 without increasing cost to the owner. In some cases you can’t make it less no matter how much money you throw at it.

I always thought it was supposed to be ready for opening game of 2021 season rather than 2/3 of the way in to it. Kinda hard to plan tailgate, game tickets etc for that scenario. So are we really just going to play the entire 2021 at LF other than maybe championship game, if we're hosting one or bowl game?

I imagine they’ll have it ready for game 1, just have cosmetic stuff theyll need to touch up to finish it off.

Why would it be hard? Do you really think UAB is going to go into 2021 not knowing where they will be playing their home games? I'm sure by the end of this football season and no later than Spring practice 2021 UAB will know exactly where they will be playing their home games and fans will know too! How much time do you need to plan a tailgate, buy tickets, etc?

So, I suppose that North Texas gets to open it up for us?

It would make more sense to open in 2022 instead of a half-assed rush job at some point during the season.

If they are 99% finished with the stadium by the start of the 2021 season then I wouldn't have a problem with a transition from LF to ProStad as long as it took place before the 4th week in the season.

Everything that is being put out by UAB makes you think they plan to play the season in it next year. Marketing of season ticket sales for 2020... "As a reminder, 2020 Blazer Boosters members and season ticket holders will have top priority for seats leading into Protective Stadium in 2021."

Protective's design has been compared to Colorado State's Canvas Stadium. Ground was broken on September 15, 2015 and it opened August 5, 2017.

How does this compare to Protective Stadium's construction timeline?

*Looks like ground was broken on 12/13/18 but construction didn't really begin until July 2019.

Protective life is also different in the fact that the front of the stadium has an exhibition hall for had an exhibition space for the BJCC. Also breaking ground has nothing to do with construction starting. Breaking ground is generally done once the project is approved and it has not gone out to bid. There is an entire solicitation for bid prequalification requirements in a bidding process it has to take place after the grounds breaking. In fact most of the time after groundbreaking design is still ongoing.

Canvas Stadium appears to be a bit more complex. In addition to the playing and game day facilities, that stadium contains CSU's entire Football operations center (Legacy Pavilion), a 6,000 sqft Hall of Fame, 23,000 sqft Alumni Center/exhibition-event space and nearly 60,000 sqft of Academic Space.

That being said, the "new" completion date could be a worst case date, allowing the BJCC to "look good" coming in early.
