As a fan of football I would rather see some games with a bit of interest than seeing Rice or UTEP play UAB. In fact I would enjoy us playing teams like Troy or USA every year instead of a number of CUSA teams. This is why I dropped season tickets a few years ago. I still go to many games but there are factors I look at before making my purchase at the gate. I still donate but playing some of those teams from Texas does not stir excitement.
Playing teams like Troy USA and even when we played Jax State at least got some regional engrossment into the game. I would travel to Troy or Mobile but have no interest whatsoever in going to El Paso, Denton or San Antonio.

Your loss. El Paso and San Antonio are fine places to visit. If your point it that they are entirely too far away, that's legit.

I love UAB.

When we played Young Harris in MBB, I was there.

When we play Rice or Coastal Carolina, I'm sitting in Lesion Field hatin' every minute of it.

If we played Billy bob Tech in either sport I'll be there. Its all about the experience and the school pride.

I'd rather us play Miss St or Ga Tech but oh well.....The UAB program doesn't have the luxury of being snobbish on opponents unless we move up in conference, increase game attendance and booster donations.

It's the old story. It takes two to sign a matchup. As we win more often, we look better as a paid opponent, but we also scare some teams off.
