1. The only way to save real money, is to move to DII.

2. How long will students be willing to pay fees to support athletics?

3. How many sports would UT sponsor if the NCAA had no minimum to stay DI? My guess would be two for men (FB/BB) and a number for women to match the men's scholarship number.

I always wanted the field house converted to an ice arena when I was there in the 80s

Hockey at UT would be great !!
Would require a lot of $$$ for start up and major capital investment... Only drawback would be going head to head against the Walleye and mens & womens b-ball for butts in seats...

You know I'd buy season tickets!!!!!!
Along with my MBB & WBB season tickets...…
College hockey is played on Friday and Saturdays. So interfering with UT BB on Fridays and during the week would not be a problem on those days. And if UT shared The Huntington Center for games, build a small practice arena on campus for practices, the club team, and high schools to rent, then it wouldn't butt heads with the Walleye.
A for Title IX add a women's team. Great opportunity there especially since the girls in the area must leave to play college hockey elsewhere and the popularity of the USA National Team......

All non-academic units at UT, including Athletics, were given a FY21 budget reduction 2% HIGHER than the academic units, they will have to figure out how to make that. Academic colleges had cuts in the 12-15% range. Was not as bad as the possibility of 20% cuts, but that range is the large annual budget cuts at UT in decades.
