RE: NCAA Votes to Allow Voluntary Activities Starting June 1st
I thought the SEC had announced last week that June 1st athletes were headed back to campus.

I don’t think there’s been an official statement, but I’ve heard that ULM athletes are going back June 1st as well.

State gave the go ahead for individual workouts for high contact sports to begin June 1. So we're bringing some players back to campus.
The states plan for competition in high contact sports will likely be announced in a month or so.

No real reason for states to make that decision until August. Plan as the season is going to happen, if we have to postpone, that is an easy thing to do, we’ve all seen that now.

I've noticed that our plans, despite the fact that we insist they have nothing to do with intercollegiate athletics, are all conveniently released about two weeks prior to a major point in terms of football. An end of June/first of July announcement with leaks to schools ahead of time coincides perfectly with the final stages of getting players to campus and beginning practices.
Lets be clear though, the biggest thing we are likely to see this month is some high profile games starting to be cancelled in states that are clearly not going to let football happen.

From the article:
Georgia Southern is planning to have in-person classes beginning in August.
Athletic activities will resume June 1st with athletes allowed to return June 8th.
There are no plans to cut any sports as a response to the pandemic.
