Of course safety should matter more than anything. With that said, I'm becoming more and more optimistic about football really happening in 2020.

I think it will happen for the simple reason that having students on campus is financially far more important to a university than having football, thus there will be students on campus, which gives them enough justification to play football and other sports.

Great point!

I just can't get past imaging Ohio Stadium at ~25,000 fans for a real game?

I wonder how much those tickets will fetch on StubHub and how they'll decide to award. If schools have to be at a quarter capacity a fair amount of colleges will be able to allocate to their season ticket base and sell the remainder at large, but the likes of OSU almost certainly have more season ticketholders than that.

I said it weeks ago, but college football (and pro sports in general) will be played. Those that thought and were adamant that no sports would be played until next year look even more ridiculous.

Ohioans need to once again put on it's cargo shorts, shave their heads cleanly, groom it's long beards and pack it's automatic weapons... and go protest on campus that it's our right to watch football!!!

Conversely, they could limit the crowds to students, faculty, and staff with safeguards to limit resale.

Yep and that's how I'm hoping it's handled.

I'm with wittx and his post of keeping it at students, faculty and staff IF they are truly keeping things at 25%of capacity.

There are a lot of people want safety and health of everybody come first before anything else.
There are a small minority of loud mouths who don't give a crap and want to watch sports and see players die from the virus so that they can get their sports fixed.
College, university and some others in leadership listens to the minorty just for greed after the money and do not care about others when they want to open things up in a pandemic crisis.

In a perfect world for safety? No sports or anything should be going on until this crisis is over.

You could very well be right on all points, so many unknowns.

I, personally, may be a bit selfish in wishing for the return of football this season. I do know that I don't want people dying just because of my desire for a football season. I really don't think anybody wants that. I have been forced to stay home even before all the shutdown and to me, this is not living. I just want life back to normal and college football is a big part of that, without the dying, of course!

I do not think that is necessarily the point, by as Gene Smith noted on Wednesday and as the Miami Dolphins gave a protocol over two weeks ago.

Ingress and Egress is still an issue and college teams will also have to deal more with tailgaters who will not enter the game, ut will remain in the parking lots. While the schools will say they prohibit such activity, most of the money will go to security closer and within the stadium bowl than outside. Even more so if states have to cover the costs as opposed to the Feds under any currently un-passed Federal Act.

No way. The universities will want to maximize the money. They will first go to the biggest donors and longest-tenured season ticket holders. There will be some cheap-seat sections reserved for students, faculty and staff...but the prime sections will go to donors and the focus will be revenue.

I could see universities stagger the games that are part of each "season" ticket package to allow more returning season ticket holders to get into a game. May be the biggest donors get the whole season, but the average returning season ticket holders have to choose a package of games. Ie,

Option A includes Michigan, Indiana, Bowling Green
Option B includes Nebraska, Iowa, Rutgers, Buffalo
