Worrying Wednesday (O/T)
We have "Monday Musings" which has been quiet for a while.
I'm 'worrying' about CMU FB.
Assuming for the sake of discussing (assuming is the word I'm using) they don't get their issue with the NCAA over the number of men's sports settled quickly, what would happen to them for the 2020 FB season?
Would they be ineligible for a bowl game? Could their games have to be treated as not counting in standings for the purposes of determining which teams go the the MACC.
Or simply be put on probation and told to correct the issue by say July 1, 2021???

RE: Worrying Wednesday
You shouldn't Steve, Alford knows what he's doing. I think the Men's Track program was already on the chopping block even before the pandemic.
My hunch is CMU plans to bring back the Men's golf program or perhaps tennis.
FIRE UP CHIPS! :)

I should have put 'worrying' in quotes except I didn't want our win over CMU this October to be treated as a non-conference game.
What I think they'll do, as you suggest, go through a period of time, where they are deleting one and adding one and it all evens out in the wash.
That said, what are the advantages of dropping T&F?? T&F isn't a particularly expensive sport (like baseball).
To me it is like trading a used Honda for a used Toyota (assuming comparable years and models). What's the purpose?
Does CMU have a good golf course they want to utilize or have a favorable offer?
BTW, congrats on your new football building going up. Looks great.

The Chippewa Champions Center was long overdue and is indeed going to be a tremendous addition to all of CMU's athletic programs but football first and foremost.
We still need to get that trophy designed and approved for the CMU-EMU rivalry! This is something else, IMHO, that's long overdue!

Have a map of the state of MI, sans the UP, and only highlight (say with stars) the cities of Ypsilanti and Mt. Pleasant, ignoring K-zoo.

Dear BeatWestern,
Why no thread for discussion on the Central Board? I would like to see what some Central fans, alums, feel about the situation.

RE: Worrying Wednesday (O/T)
Dear Friends,
Okay, for discussion purposes, what if the NCAA does not give Central the waiver they are seeking, and their athletic director's back-up plan does not work, and football will be played. Does the MAC allow their games, if played, to count in the standings, or do they (MAC) not allow Central to play at all, and further, since they would not be considered MAC compliant, or NCAA compliant for FBS, would they (Central) still be MAC eligible?

Yes, Ken, those are my questions.
I would suggest, though, that the NCAA would place CMU on probation and give them X months to remove the probation.
The idea, in this case, is not to give some type of harsh penalty, like the 'death penalty' for recruiting violations, but to ensure compliance by some date.

Put them on Double Secret Probation and make sure that Keno returns as basketball coach and give him a lifetime contract.

Mt Pleasant Country Club would be the best venue.

Michigan has two spectacular courses and EMU has a great one as well. None of their team events are played at any of said courses, EMU's men's team actually practices at Travis Pointe CC. No home course is needed at CMU.

The women use MPCC so I would assume a men's team would as well. They just partnered with the CC and put in a year round building with high end simulator.

Eagle Crest is a great golf course, but I don't believe its long enough from the tips to make it a challenge for D1 golfers.

This confims that I'm not a D1 golfer. It's plenty long enough for me. And then there's the water hazards...
Great place to go hang out back near the bar too.

RE: Worrying Wednesday (O/T)
Dear Friends,
As far as I am concerned, the ruling by the NCAA is bullcrap. First of all, Central knows they are not in compliance, and will have to add a men's sport. Second, they are given two years to come up with a solution. Two years?
I know it was not the NCAA that made us jump through hoops with the lawsuits brought when Eastern decided to drop sports, but I feel a great injustice done to us, and Central gets off scott free.

Oh please, Ken! Did you really think our AD would've cut those sports if he didn't already know the NCAA would likely approve the waiver?
Now CMU has two years to bring back the men's golf program.
