Why are you banging your head?

I thought it would be a home/home agreement with both schools, but that won't happen.

Barely any p5 schools played against us at home recently. I think Miss State was the last one.

And that isn’t going to change. The only reason for a upper tier P5 team to give up the money they generate from a home game is because TV money is too good to pass up.

The only issue if have is scheduling another body bag game in November. If we're not going to consider the game important enough to try to be competitive and/or win (even as remote as that possibility might be) then we should stick to playing those games in August/September. (See Tennessee 2019).

Agree 100%. Going to Death Valley in the middle of the conference back-stretch is a bad idea. A mistake by Ingram/Clark or whoever.

You take these games anyway you get them. We don't dictate terms, they do. Of course we would love a return game or a different time on the schedule but we aren't in the position to get those things. As long as we don't get beat by 60, these games are huge for our recruiting and public image. We can't get to where we want to be as a program without them. Unless of course you want to play the 315th worst schedule each year just for a better looking record (on paper). That last sentence was not aimed at the previous posters.

I think we overestimate how much money is coming in to the program, especially with 5 year pledges coming to an end. We need 2 buy games, if we are being realistic. These big paydays allow us to pay these G5 teams as well. One thing is for sure, recruiting has got to get better. Seems to me it’s been leveled off.

One would think recruiting should take off when we're playing in the new stadium.

I have a very different opinion on scheduling than many do on this board. I feel that if we want to be an elite program we need to schedule elite teams, whenever and wherever. If we wish to move up in the college football world we need to play better opponents. Last year our program seemed to downplay the Tenn game. I don’t understand that. recruits, AAC and fans take notice when you play (and sometimes beat) teams like that. We must have a stronger schedule if we wish to become a stronger program. If we must play two power 5 top tier teams on the road a year so be it.

I won't laugh at you but yeah that will never happen with the top echelon schools. Now we could probably do a 2 for 1 with schools like Miss. St or Ga Tech but not the LSUs and Jawjas of the worlds. These are our bodyba........I mean money games that we still need to play.

Completely agree. These games hurt us more than anything being played at that time. Even if we win, do we get beat up so badly does it cost us the conference title?

I was there for the done that. It was a muggy Saturday in September in Baton Rouge, not November 19th, two weeks or so before the CUSA title game.

Based on who we've announced lately (Troy, GA St. UGA LSU), looks like we're lining up opponents that are within reasonable bus range. Probably will be trend in all sports.

We’d have half our roster beat up playing non-conf games. The Boise and Gonzaga (and maybe UCF) formula is simple even if it does take time: dominate your conf so much that you almost become a separate entity, win some bowl games v P5, recruits start considering you (and you can offer immediate PT), then P5 teams are looking to play you to keep those recruits away and even, possible, for paydays at neutral fields (everybody loves the underdog).

We’re in the “dominate CUSA” phase (then maybe the “dominate something else” phase). Winning another CUSA West crown & Champ Game (to wish LF goodbye) will be more meaningful and advance our cause more than a win v Miami (though that would be icing on the cake) even if it doesn’t seem so now.
