I totally understand why Memphis fans would feel this way. It's a no-win situation, Ark-State has zero brand value so nobody will give you credit for winning while a loss will be an embarrassment.

So when I say it's a "good" game, I mean in the technical sense that in this CV19 environment, it's a quick low-cost trip and the opponent is actually pretty good. Your team can actually get better from playing them, unlike say an FCS opponent.

As a long-time Memphis fan, I agree with this point fully.

The world isn’t exactly full of FBS games they can play via a bus ride and expect the opponent to buy 8,000 or so tickets.

Tigers went home/home with ULM who hasn’t beaten AState since like 2009.

Memphis has a budget to make and the series furthers that goal fan “excitement” is irrelevant.

Agree, not gonna boost season tix sales, but gonna help bottom line.

ETA: not to demean Ark St. as it's prolly not that much a boost to Jonesboro season tix sales either.

That's life in the G5: We don't think much of you and you don't think much of us.

Agree, Quo. And to take it one step further ... There are lots of football programs with a P5 home that I don't put much stock in either.

I've been a Vandy fan for many years and acknowledge that many fellow P5s — and many G5s, for that matter — don't think much of my team's football program.
